March 24, 20214 yr I loved the season! I thought it was super fun and had a great cast- the judging was the only thing off for me but the challenges were strong and there were SO many lovable queens! Glad JBC was gone- honestly make it Stacey Mackenzie’s Drag Race I would not be mad at that at all- she is just so warm and sweet and actually he really helpful critiques- one of my favourite permanent judges on any iteration of the show- (and her looks were mostly better than Brooke’s oops). Brooke felt a little wooden the first season but seemed to be loosening up towards the end so hopefully will keep moving in the right direction for season 2.
March 24, 20214 yr I looooved the season - amazing winner, although I still feel Jimbo was short changed a bit The judging was harsh in places but the level of hate directed at the judges was uncalled for.
March 24, 20214 yr Author I do think the queens and the challenges were all great (Jimbo forever) but the judging felt off and the rolling main judge/guest didn't quite work for me. It felt like they were taking it in turns to replicate RuPaul rather than be themselves and construct a new lane for Drag Race.
March 24, 20214 yr The judges all felt like they were trying too hard & Brooke didn't loosen up until the last few episodes. I'd like if they tried to take some lessons from Fred on Drag Race Holland and be a bit more chill. As for JBC, abuse isn't on, but he didn't seem to be a great fit for the show &/ maybe was badly advised or in a time of his life where he was experimenting with personal stylepresentation, fair play, bad timing. (Who among us hasn't?)
March 24, 20214 yr Very glad JCB won't be returning, obviously the hate against him was way out of control, but never liked him as a judge. Very mean spirited. Glad Stacey is coming back though.
March 24, 20214 yr I think it was one of the best series in a while personally, it felt quite refreshing and definitely stood apart on its own as its own thing, considering it didn't have Ru and Michelle to anchor it immediately like UK did and Aus will, I think it did a great job of feeling like the Drag Race while forging its own identity and feeling unique. The judging was definitely the worst part, not even the JUDGES really they were good, Geoffrey aside. Stacy is a QUEEN and Brooke did really well I thought), it was the decisions made! I hate to say queens are "robbed" as the word really gets overused by fans but the way Jimbo was constantly looked over for wins was ridiculous, even being objective as I wasn't a STAN, she easily deserved 2 at least in addition to Snatch Game. It's not so much the wins as some of the weeks she was high it was close or a toss-up (Rita winning Star Sixty-Nine is THE most bizarre ever though surely), but it was the way they acted like she was always doing badly and couldn't find her lane, I'll always remember "welcome to the competition" in like week 6 when she'd just won Snatch Game the week before? Plus she had the best runways I'd say, pretty much every week she killed it and had an insane level of versatility. I think they need to just have Brooke as the Ru role instead of having a guest judge introduce the runway as if they're the host, that just didn't work and felt like they were missing a host more than anything. I think Brooke really came into her own as it went on and can honestly hold her own in that role.

March 24, 20214 yr No massive loss in Jeffrey, he was definitely the weakest aspect of the season for me though I wouldn’t have been against him coming back for a second shot. I think it would definitely work better if they just let Brooklyn lead instead of changing it every week just for consistency but maybe they’ll be able to run it smoother, having a season under their belt, if they keep things the same. Regardless I’m excited to see Stacy and Brooklyn, the former was definitely the star of the panel and I think Brooklyn will be much more relaxed and enjoyable having done a season. Really all they need to do is sort the questionable wins/bottoms and they’re set for another fantastic season IMO!
March 24, 20214 yr I feel like in Rita and Priyanka's case, they had questionable wins where they kind of inflated their track records, I think both are great and I loved them as queens, but no chance did Priyanka deserve Not Sorry Aboot It and like I said I've never been so baffled by a winner as I have Rita in that ad challenge! Canadian runway: Anastarzia or Jimbo Acting challenge: Lemon Not Sorry Aboot It: Lemon or Scarlett (Jimbo should have been bottom for this tbf, which I guess slightly balances out the rigga morris later in the season) Recyling design: Rita Snatch Game: Jimbo Star Sixty-Nine: Jimbo Miss Loose Jaw: I'd actually argue Jimbo again but Lemon was good too, she didn't NOT deserve it Makeover: Priyanka (Jimbo high over Scarlett) Ball: Scarlett It was so so bizarre they just decided to stop giving Jimbo any praise post Snatch Game/Star Sixty-Nine and acted like she bombed the rest of the show :lol:

I think other than the judging the cast is just as fun and has so many stars- there wasn’t a single queen I didn’t enjoy! There’s drama, FANTASTIC lipsyncs (probably the strongest season for overall lipsyncs ever imo) and fun challenges!

March 24, 20214 yr Oh I LOVED Scarlett’s made look! I agree with what you’ve said about the challenge wins- I’d have given Scarlett the win for Not Sorry Aboot It as well- her energy whenever she was performing- including that final lipsync- was so brilliant!
March 24, 20214 yr I'm so excited for this to return, and quite honestly JBC leaving is the best thing that could've happened (not just for our sake but for his too - yes a lot of people took the hate too far on social media, but he really was quite mean-spirited in his judging, and I don't think that's something he'd be able to shake off). More personalities like Lemon, Priyanka and Jimbo please :wub:
March 25, 20214 yr Happy that JBC has left. I think the social media response was justified as his judging really put down some of the queens and made them feel shitty in non-constructive ways. Don't try and be 'the mean judge' unless you can properly critique queens based on facts and things they should be hitting the mark on, the best often comes from a place of love rather 'use your time better maybe'. Brooke and Stacey I'm really happy to see back and I think this season should feel a bit more natural now they've done it once and seen what the reaction has been. I can imagine it was particularly tough for Brooke as no one had 'replicated' the head judge role of RuPaul so far so that's a lot of pressure and expectation! The queens from the first season were great and were able to carry the show through, probably even moreso on than DRUK1 so here's hoping S2 is even better too!
March 25, 20214 yr Glad to see JBC going - I really enjoyed the first season. Hopefully the second season will build on its success and they will get Brooke to be the main Rupaul-like judge. Can't wait to watch the second season!
