Outside of All Stars, I'm fairly sure off the top of my head (Drag Race stats live there rent free I'm a nerd x) there has only been Angele Anang from DRT who has been bottom more than once and won, she was twice, with the second being a bottom 3 at the top 5 which was kind of a gaggery thing just because I feel like. I don't think this excludes Symone though, if anything it's a narrative towards her winning that she overcame those two bottom placements. She absolutely excels when she shines and can do looks, comedy/acting and performance, she just got in her head the weeks she didn't do so well. Ru clearly LOVES her too, rightfully so, I agree that I keep getting more and more winner vibes from Gottmik too. Mik has pretty much no weak area, the dance challenge she did deserve to place low tbh and the ad was kinda awful, but she can obviously perform as she was great in the Rusical, and she of course won Snatch Game and smashed the roast so it's not that she can't be funny.

 

I think people are doing a bit much with Utica this week, yes the judges have overlooked her and been harsh towards her drag all season but this was pretty much an absolute bomb and that was really only her fault as she didn't listen at all in the workshop. I do agree the criteria has never really been clear though, my understanding is that nothing is off limits but they acted like Utica was being really dark or something, I think weight jokes are lazy unless it's done cleverly which was the problem, it wasn't, but I've definitely seen worse let slide! This just genuinely wasn't her challenge, but still she had a chance to work on her set and didn't. Tbf to her, I guess they've been shitting on her all season so she's thought "do you know what I'm sticking to my guns".

I think the issue is that the fact that they never quite "got" Utica meant that they never could give him any real constructive criticism, which meant they went too general as in "don't be too mean" etc. From looking at it, they gave Olivia and Symone more constructive criticism (and they still failed to deliver) but with Utica they were kind of ????? from the start. I guess my advice to Utica would be to play on that quirky/weirdness in a way where the roastees don't quite get if they're being roasted or not.

 

But I feel like Utica falls into the Tammie Brown box where she's just too niche and own thing to properly compete on Drag Race.

I'm not sure. I'm only going by the US series run and none have been bottom 2 twice. It could be something against Symone going into the finale at least.

 

The more the series goes on, the more I'm convinced Gotmik is going to be crowned the winner.

Kandy was the obvious winner and she lived up to this expectation. Her look was on point too

There were so many personalities on this season that the producers clearly didn’t know how special they were and let them go so soon- Lala, Kashmora and ESPECIALLY Tamisha were absolute gold and hopefully can see that the audience have eaten them up like we did Monique Heart and have them back to slay

Fans on reddit seem to have gone overkill now on the 'we can't criticise Kandy' train.

 

Just because you are plus size and a poc shouldn't mean everyone has to walk on eggshells around you and not call you out on challenges when you just aren't very good. That's just as bad as discriminating against someone because of things they can't change. Putting them in a special category.

 

Having said that she wasn't bad this episode, top half, but I wouldn'tve given her the win.

 

Don't understand the fuss with Utica. But I think that's because I'm genuinely confused by the concept of a roast. It seems so out of the ordinary for US humour. Basically "insult me, but you can't insult me about X, Y or Z. Unless I like you." Seriously baffled at how Utica saying Nina's should be able to speak whale is evil but Kandy calling her a stadium isn't.

 

Besides that, Olivia's edit is so weird. Is this three episodes in a row now she's been Low? With a record like that you'd think they would have thrown her in the B2 at some point.

She’s been low the last 2 weeks- she lipsynced the episode before! Not comparing her in any other way other than trajectory- but her run has been really similar to Sh*rry’s last season: doing well from the outset and then her shtick becoming super tired and letting other competitors move past her in the rankings. It’s a shame as I think she is lovely and very talented- and she MURDERED the disco week imo but yeah she’s REALLY fizzled!

She was also low for Snatch Game so that's four in a row, honestly she was wholly forgettable for the two prior episodes she didn't win too, at the start she was just kind of there after being top 2 in Condragulations, what an odd trajectory where she did so well right at the start and a bit later two weeks in a row and then has just completely dove off. I think like I said she doesn't quite now she is yet, she just relies on the same shtick I feel and hasn't gone anywhere or surprised us at all throughout the season. I mean as much as Kandy is one note in terms of the challenges, she comes across as a more complex personality where you kind of have different feelings about her and for better or worse her personality has made an impact on this season. Rathe than being like a Miss Congeniality type fan fave sweet queen, Olivia has bored me at best and actually I kinda get Valentina vibes as I've said a few times but that's another story and one I could be totally wrong about :lol:

Oh wow what a feat haha! I think she could do well on All Stars but she needs a good few years to mature! I do wonder whether the producers thought she’d be a bigger threat because the second win could have gone to a number of other queens really? What an ODD ODD edit she’s had wow.

 

Also aside from this- I think I’ve accepted that I’m happy with either of Mik, Rose or Symone winning (although Rose would be my last pick out of them). I’m not able to fully route for any of these queens at this point- not like I was Tamisha anyway! Compared to Jaida last year where I SCREAMED and was ELATED to see her win- I can’t see myself being too reactive to the winners announcement as the competition has been pretty poor imo.

 

Roll on All Stars 6 and Australia already- even if they’re bad can they be iconically bad and not Season 11 bad like this has been

Symone is becoming one of my faves EVER so I feel like I'll be a bit deflated if she doesn't win but I'm happy with Gottmik or Rosé too! For all this season's faults, that's three really strong contenders we've got. I would have been happy with any of the top 3 winning S12 too but this I feel is stronger and I feel like any of them could win. Lbr Kandy/Olivia at this point are rank outsiders :lol:

 

People really do too much shitting on this season just because it's been long and it's bizarre, it's certainly not the best ever and a step down from S12 but at least it's not 11 :lol:

I honestly would be torn between this and 11 for which is worst. But yeah at least this season has had Symone, Rose, Tamisha and Denali when they were around to give us some entertainment.

 

I think that's also the thing with the production of this one, it really feels like they didn't know what they had.

 

Or, they had an outline from before the season that by god they wanted to stick to no matter how well the queens were doing.

 

So we had Rose's random highs at the start despite hideous runways, Tina getting no critique for her runways or makeup for about 7 episodes because they had planned for her to be a big success. Tamisha chopped early on because they cast her as a filler queen. Denali chopped midseason despite several Highs, a win and the most iconic lipsync of the season... in favour of Olivia Lux who proceeded to be Low every single week since being saved in that lipsync. Utica's edit wildly veering from episode to episode to kooky sweet and innocent to a scheming cold bitch with delusions. etc. etc.
