Though I'd probably "only" rank this 4th out of 5 in terms of their albums, I've been going back to it more and more recently. I think the renewed love for Hear Me Out started that rediscovery off but there are so many good album tracks here - Big Brother, Graffiti My Soul and Here We Go are my other album track faves. Obviously the singles are all excellent and I think they picked them perfectly, there's nothing I'd swap in or out.

Jump's inclusion always felt random though! I guess not everyone will have picked up the SOTU re-issue but it sorta annoys me that it features on two albums :kink:

17 years ago today, Love Machine was released  It peaked at #2 in the UK where it remained for a fortnight. Last year it became Gold certified! It's their third best selling single.

Good that it finally went gold,, I do like love machine but prefer a few other girls Aloud singles to it.Its probably one of their better known singles to the casual listener.
Love Machine is obviously a classic in their discography, but I could at least name ten singles I prefer. Having said that, it's still a very very good pop song of course and in a better sales climate, it would have surely been platinum already.

I'm not as fond of 'Love Machine' these days, I think the fact it's been so overused in things like sofa adverts has tainted it for me.

I think WWTNS? is such a solid album really. Aside from 'Deadlines & Diets', '100 Different Ways' and 'I Say a Little Prayer For You' all, these songs are pretty much classics for me.

I love the production for Love Machine. It undoubtedly makes the song.

This was more enjoyable than I was expecting. Again they nailed the singles.

The Show, Love Machine, I'll Stand By You, Wake Me Up, Deadlines & Diets, Graffiti My Soul and Hear Me Out the highlights.

What Will the Neighbours Say? was released 18 years ago - 29th November 2004! It peaked at #6 in the UK albums chart and sold over 600,000 copies. Happy 18th anniversary to this fabulous album *.*
Happy birthday what will the neighbours say, the album did well for them and sold much better than their debut but at the time I was disappointed with it missing the top 5 as I fully expected no lower than top 3.
What a fabulous album/era. You could really get the sense by late 2004 that they were taking things to the next level and becoming something to be noticed.
The momentum was really growing at this point plus people saw them as Girls Aloud rather than the 5 girls put together on popstar the rivals.

On this date 18 years ago, What Will the Neighbours Say? entered the UK albums chart with first week sales of 85,717!

Unfortunately sales info from that week is a bit thin on the ground (at least I can't find much) but Lemar was #8 with 78,266, so it looks like it was a bit of a tight race for Girls Aloud to end up at #6. I wonder what #5 sold?

Listening to this album now for the first time and it's actually very good. I'm up to Hear Me Out.

OMG the first time you heard this album was last year?? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?

Those sales in todays climate look amazing, i really miss the days when albums could sell numbers like this or higher and not get top 5, i think we had times in q4 where all album in the top 10 could clear 100k.

I have #5 (Kylie's 'Ultimate Kylie') estimated at 95k (was 33rd on the YTD chart after four weeks with total sales estimated at 425k; three of the four weekly sales had been revealed by official sources).

Thank you! At least it wasn't particularly close, would have been more annoying if it had missed the Top 5 by a whisker!

I remember this felt like a big moment for them back then
