Jamelia criticises Leona and Emma Bunton

Thursday, December 7 2006, 12:30 GMT

DigitalSpy.com By Ben Rawson-Jones, Entertainment Reporter

Singer Jamelia has claimed that both Leona Lewis from X Factor and former Spice Girl Emma Bunton do not belong in the music industry.

The 25-year-old singer told Hit 40 UK that "[Leona] has an amazing voice, but it’s a bit Mariah Carey circa 1990. I don’t know how she would fit into the music industry." "At least Ben is a bit different."

Her sights then turned to Bunton, currently competing in BBC show Strictly Come Dancing and attempting to revive her solo fortunes with a cover of Petula Clark's 'Downtown' for Children In Need. "Her career is going 'downtown'," quipped Jamelia. "At least she can dance," added the 'Superstar' singer.

Jamelia is currently at 34 in the UK singles chart with 'Beware of the Dog', a track that relies heavily on a sample from Depeche Mode's 'Personal Jesus'.

Do you agree with Jamelia or not?

Hmm, well, Jamelia has even less right to slag anyone off than Lily Allen does.....

It's a case of, what she's saying is essentially correct, but again it's a question of credibility.....

Essentially, she's right. And Leona can't be that good anyway. If she was she wouldn't need to go on a lame tv talent contest to get a record deal
I ain't really a fan of Jam, but in her defence I must say I bet she didn't mean any offence in what she was saying, as usual the media probably took it out of context...uhm sounds familiar

Well she (Jamelia) is managed by Jonathan Shalit, who it has been alledged (by the Daily Mirror a few weeks back) to have been giving advice and support to Ben (X-Factor 3), and could end up being his manager after the show, assuming he does not win.

Plus maybe Jamelia's is worried/jealous, because Leona is a better Rnb/Pop/soul singer live than she will ever be:

The proof:

Jamelia - Beware Of The Dog (Live @ CIN)

There are more notes out of tune in this performance than what Leona has produced in all of her performances on X-Factor 3.

What do you expect it was freezin that night, its not the easiest of songs to sing live either, she does a miles better performance of it on Paul O Grady show which is in the Jamelia Forum

Then why did the likes of McFly, Nerina Pallot & Amy Winehouse, etc not have the same vocal difficulties?

Having said that Girls Aloud where very ropey on that night, but that is not unusual for them performing live.....

I like Jamelia's music but I do wish she'd shut up sometimes.

It's not like her album has been a huge seller - and 'Downtown' may end up a few places higher than 'Dog' on this sunday's chart as it is - so I don't think she should be making digs about anyone.

You'd think Jamelia would be a bit more humble. She had a few flops herself ('Boy Next Door', 'Bout').

I'm glad she didn't but she could very easily have been dropped and never released 'Superstar' and then wouldn't be in a position where she can be mean.

I like Jamelia but im getting sick of her slagging of artists. Its boring so grow up. Your hardly setting the carts alight esp with your album
very true and emma has sold more records in her time than jemelia can dream of, i know most of emma career was spice related but jameila shouldnt dis her emma is round longer than her
Does the girl ever shut up? Maybe she should concentrate more on her own career more than worrying about everyone elses ...
Lol Jamelia's latest single 'Beware Of The Dog' which actually isn't quite as awful as most of her awful songs, is set to miss the top 10 at number 11. Her latest album and singles really have flopped. How can Jamelia possibly talk? She's so desperate. Also, Javine the love rat who cheated on Jamelia's boyfriend is returning in February with a new single called 'Drop The Bomb' which is a pop anthem rather like 'Touch My Fire'.
This is all NOT true :P how dare you all slag off Jamelia for this :P
Jamelia, only because your career is flaggin love...that doesn't mean you have to take it out on other artists who, ironically (in Leona's case), have more talent than you.
