...there is no dispute that their two best-known songs are still Come Home and Sit Down

*Puts disputation hat on*.

I'd agree with Sit Down, but I'd say that their other best-known song is instead "Laid", being their biggest streamed song on Spotify (indeed, a few years ago it was the biggest streaming song released the year it came out on the service), and it's probably better known in America than "Sit Down" is.

As a neutral party, 'Sit Down' is the only James song that I know particularly well, but 'Laid' would definitely come to mind before 'Come Home' (which I doubt I'd have been able to name at all as a James song if you asked me before reading this thread). xx
Unrelated: I think you got some wires crossed regarding the commentary on 'Wow' - there have been three previous hits with that title, with the last two being in a row, but you appear to have commented on the 1st and 2nd rather than the 2nd and 3rd (skipping over the Post Malone song, not that I expect you have much positive to say about that one either).

You seem to have highlighted a glitch in Polyhex! If you do a search on all songs with Wow anywhere in the title, it selects the Post Malone “song”. If you restrict it to songs where Wow is the whole title, it isn’t included. Maybe there’s a rogue unprintable character in there.

Mystery solved - by Paulgilb on Haven. The PM song has a full-stop in the title.

That doesn't explain why you said that the Kate Bush and Kylie songs were the last two songs to chart with 'Wow' in the title  (I did consider that you may have been excluding Post Malone because of the full stop but then the reference to there being 2 hits simply named 'Wow' in a row no longer makes sense)
