April 19, 20223 yr Author Might be the worst United back line I've ever seen. Rugby score incoming... Well beaten by the equivalent of a try in rugby league.
April 19, 20223 yr I've seen some terrible, terrible Liverpool sides over my time and even when we were a terrible side, we gave it ago and at least put Utd under a bit of pressure. That forst half from Utd was genuinely abysmal. I've seen relegation fodder put in better performances. Thought they gave us a scare for 15-20 minutes after the break, but the third goal just beat them down to a pulp and they gave up. Years of terrible recruitment and overpaying for bang average players, not sure Ten Haag is gonna turn this team around, it needs gutting.
April 21, 20223 yr I didn't get that at all^ it was a completely nothing game for Chelsea. Not gonna win the league and top 4 pretty much guaranteed.
April 21, 20223 yr I feel the same. It's only if he dismantles the current squad that I might get excited, people kept blaming the manager but it's the players who are mostly at fault. It's better to build for the long term even if it means more shit seasons like this in the more immediate future. The tables will turn eventually, all these teams that people keep raving on about at the moment have majority of their players getting into their 30's so their progress wont be sustained for many years to come unless they constantly rebuild like Sir Alex Ferguson did.
April 21, 20223 yr That’s the thing United can get rid of a load of players but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s the structure of the club and board that are mainly at fault! Coming 4-7th isn’t that bad either lol compared to some clubs!
April 21, 20223 yr It is when you're spending the money we are. It wouldn't be as embarrassing if we were say spending frugally like the North London clubs but with an outlay on par with Europe's elite there's no excuse. The only club who has pissed away money worse than us is Everton. You're right about the board though. Edited April 21, 20223 yr by Dobbo.
April 21, 20223 yr Yeh the fact Pogba will likely leave on a free is mad the amount of money blown on that egotistical arsehole! Then as Rooney has pointed out the Ronaldo signing was just thoughtless and arrogant to appease the fans! Edited April 21, 20223 yr by Steve201
April 21, 20223 yr Think Ten Hag is the right sort of appointment, he has potential and probably was a shoe-in for City/Bayern. The main problem is the fans though and the media - how much time will he get? Makes me laugh that the most expensive squad ever assembled needs even more money spending on it. Can't see Utd doing anything for at least 2 seasons and that's even if the stars align. I know Houidini mentioned about City/Liverpool having aging players, which I agree and there will be periods of transition, but both clubs are so well run off the field to plan for these things. I couldn't think of a worse group of players for Ten Hag's style either - don't think any of this current Utd squad suits his style of play or would be able to.. possibly Sancho and Rashford, but the latter looks completely finished.

Then as Rooney has pointed out the Ronaldo signing was just thoughtless and arrogant to appease the fans! I've no doubt it was a legacy signing at the time yes to keep fans happy but to be fair he's been unreal this season. Could end up second in the golden boot race behind only Salah and bear in mind he's missed plenty of matches. He was the only reason we even qualified from the Champions League Group too! Could end up second in the golden boot race behind only Salah and bear in mind he's missed plenty of matches. He was the only reason we even qualified from the Champions League Group too! He's just done what everyone thought he would do though - score a bucket load of goals against rubbish teams which he's been doing for around 3 -4 years now. Be interested to see what happens with him in the summer.
April 22, 20223 yr Yeh and we will never know to the detriment of the other players in the team in terms of overall goals. No one doubts he’s a brilliant player but the signing was pointless.

To be fair, think Cavani has been injured most the season, especially the latter half (and obviously the Greenwood stuff too) so I guess it hasn't been pointless, just by coincidence though! Don't see how he fits in a Ten Hag side though.
April 22, 20223 yr Well their best player for the 18 months from him joining was Bruno Fernandes, his record at Manchester United was 0.93 goals + assists per game (PL) pre-Ronaldo, and is 0.44 since he signed. It may be purely coincidence and there's a different manager to consider too, but I find it utterly predictable. The discourse around Manchester United makes me laugh, their players are always awful and at fault, yet despite signing three excellent ones each summer they're still the same the next season. They've been poorly coached by managers nowhere near qualified to do that job. These players will perform with the right structure around them, but there's no thought into running that club at all.

The discourse bit is true and is where Ole lacked, but that is also part of the joke the club is. You have average players on ridiculous wages, who then become impossible to shift as nobody can afford the wages. It will take 2-3 years to sort that mess out as it is. Ragnick has pretty much thrown the entire team under the bus now he's no longer gonna be their manager saying they're lazy etc. - will agree some of this comes down to poor coaching, standards and lack of modernisation in methods, but must be pretty hard to motivate average players on huge salaries too. I think even someone like Wan-Bissaka is on about 150k per week, which is just mad.
