Posted June 23, 20214 yr Sixty years ago today, on 23 June 1961, the Blood Donor episode of Hancock's Half Hour was shown on BBC TV (the only BBC channel at the time). It remains probably Hancock's finest half-hour.
June 23, 20214 yr A pint? That's very nearly an armful! I think I first saw it in the late 70s or early 80s when it was repeated. It's very funny. :D
June 24, 20214 yr Author I’m not sure I know it… may have to watch it this week if it’s good It's one of the all-time classics. The production is obviously very dated but the script still stands up very well. A pint? That's very nearly an armful! I think I first saw it in the late 70s or early 80s when it was repeated. It's very funny. :D We're not all Rob Roy, you know. That's probably about the time I first saw it although I had heard about it from my parents.
June 24, 20214 yr yes I also saw it on re-runs in "greatest Comedy Moments" and the like. I still use that one-liner once in a while to mystify younger people and have an in-joke for the oldies. kids: "what?!" me: "look it's not funny if I have to explain it!" (Knowing it's not at all funny to them if I don't explain it. It is to me, though  )
