Sad to see the record run over but it did have to end eventually.

I wasn’t looking forward to extra time but it’s been fab

I guess I just assumed looking at the scoreline that it was a dull match! Glad it's not been as the score suggested though, and this 30 minutes has been thoroughly entertaining.
Thrilled with that. Italy have played incredibly well all comp thus far and Austria put up an incredibly tough fight.

The extra 30 was just a condensed version of the 90. Bit more frantic than the 90 but the normal time was still end to end

A rare case of a great period of extra time.

Indeed. Austria played very well and the match was a close one.

Austria never stopped going, even when they were 2-0 down in the extra time period. They gave it everything that they had and it was really admirable from them. Italy finally conceded a goal but their unbeaten run goes on to 31 matches now, they're a bit like a final boss in a video game and I can't wait to see them play next. It will be Belgium or Portugal in the quarter finals which is bound to be a good match.
Much better play than I expected from Austria, they played far better than Italy for most of that game. The Italy in added extra time was more what I expected from the rest of the match, but even with the two goals, both teams really went for it, nice to finally get an entertaining extra time period!

In a way Italy were lucky, if it wasn't for that disallowed goal in the first 90 minutes, it could have be a different story.

The last 30 minutes were entertaining, and Austria gave them a good match.

The next test for Italy is going to be Belgium or Portugal, I'm going for the former.

What has Arnautovic done it seems to have went over my head?

Austria were excellent in that game feel bad that they didn’t go through as it would be nice to see the traditional powerhouses not just win every game.

I was at the game last night, it was a weird atmosphere. Most of the fans were made up of day trippers (like me) so a decent atmosphere never really got going. Once Italy scored there was a guy in an Italian flag who managed to run half the length of the stadium shouting "Italiaaaaa :D

Thought Austria were really unforutnate, Alaba was absolutely immense. They set up with a great shape and Italy found it really difficult to break them down and Arnaoutovic looked dangerous throughout. In extra-time Italy's quality really showed through, those substitutions just gave the fresh legs and impetus that changed the game. Even when Austria pulled a goal back I never really thought they'd get the 2nd, Italy managed the game fairly well but it was funny seeing Austria go full Sunday league mode and just boot the ball up field and hope for a lucky break!

Cool hope you enjoyed it Rooney! Gutted I couldn’t go to the game in Dublin!

The atmosphere in Budapest and the likes where a full crowd is always much better!

Yeah the games really miss a full crowd, all it takes if a few thousand day trippers and it really affects the atmosphere. Loads of people just get pissed up and miss half the game. That's one thing that's going to be so difficult to get full crowds back, the facilities section always gets absolutely rammed, an absolute breeding ground for covid!

Yeh especially in Wembley which is so huge.

Been to plenty of Ireland matches which there’s people just there for a day out on the piss. Winds me up especially as there’s been so many games I’ve been at where there’s one goal in it and the dickheads who arrive 15 mins into the game with hotdogs then get in everyone’s way leaving in the 85th minute - I literally shouted out loud at someone making everyone stand up to get out when he was leaving at that stage of an important qualifier - “Why the f*** would you go home at this stage??”

😂

Yeah I don't understand why people leave matches early, it's something that I've seen at Old Trafford when I've gone there. It's like going to a cinema to watch a movie and leaving before it's finished. I don't get why you'd do that, especially on a Saturday afternoon  , during this Euro tournament the cameras have shown people who aren't even watching the game but are instead looking at their phones and I'm thinking that they've been given a rare opportunity to be at a major tournament and they're just wasting it.

It happens at all the grounds and I don't get it. I used to sit on the stairs anyway at OT and always timed my descent down the 20 odd rows for the final 30 secs of injury time, nipping into a row near the stairs to see out the whistle.

Otherwise in a ground like OT its 10 mins before you're down the stairs sometimes.
