Loving the love for TPOG

It is stunning and i really should play it alot more !!

i can remember Madonna saying that William Orbit never took to the song and that she had problems with the videos director.

Papa Don't Preach on every level is iconic, the song, the vocal, and the video. Just Madonna at such a creative high. I love Power of Goodbye too, it's a masterpiece and is achingly beautiful.. I got to see her sing that at the VMA Fashion Awards from the second row, in '98 and that was a real highlight for me...

I don't like 'Sorry' and I never listen to it.

| 05. Ray Of Light 9.63

The second single from the album of the same name, Ray of Light kicks off our top 5. A fist-pumping dance song with techno, trance, Eurodance, and disco influences it has an eclectic guitar rift throughout ensuring the energy never once dips. The song is about freedom which is also reflected in the music video whereby Madonna is shown dancing in cities around the world, that races by. A huge critical success, the song was nominated for three Grammy Awards; for Record of the Year, Best Dance Recording, and Best Short Form Music Video, winning the last two and the music video went on to win five awards at the 1998 MTV VMAs. It also went on to be a commercial success, peaking in the top 5 of most markets around the globe. The song is a reworking of Sepheryn by English folk music duo Curtiss Maldoon, but made frantic, high-octane and totally Madonna.

Song

EVER!!!!

Fabulous song. It’s just so progressive and cool. Even now I can’t think of another song by anyone that sounds remotely like it.
Ray Of Light - it truly is that !!!

Finally this trash is gone :cheer: I always hated "Ray of Light".

Good luck for "Like A Prayer".

Ray of Light remains incredible. Every little thing about it is sublime, from the vocal to the video, to the production and the Oprah performance (among many other fantastic performances, motherf***ers).

So much love for this exhilarating masterpiece. It never fails to ignite a spark in me. The music video perfectly reflects the energy of the song too. A very worthy 5th place!

| 04. Hung Up 9.67

In fourth place, we have the lead single to Madonna's 10th album. Hung Up sent us straight back into the 80s. Written and produced by Madonna and Stuart Price, the song samples ABBA's 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)' alongside Madonna's soaring vocals and an intense ticking clock throughout the background of the instrumentation. Following a diminishing popularity in the era that came before it, Hung Up shot Madonna back up to the top, instantly becoming one of her most recognisable hits, garnering a new audience of fans and becoming a defining dance hit of the 00s (the[/b] biggest dance hit of the decade in the US). It was a critical and commercial success and kick-started a huge era of dancefloor music for her. The music video paid tribute to John Travolta and his movies and featured the now iconic pink leotard. It was one of the first songs written from the era and it became the signature song of it. Here, it charts at a very respectable #4 place and only a few points behind reaching #2!

I'm a little bit surprised at this dropping out next. It's not one of my absolute favourites of hers but it's undeniably one of her signature hits and very much deserving of top 5. I'm really loving that so many eras are represented in the top 10, really does show how consistent she's been over the decades
Hung Up remains my favourite Madonna song and also favourite song of all time. It made me a fan, kickstarted my properly discovering ABBA’s incredible back catalogue and is pop perfection.
Hung Up is such a fantastic song. I really love it a lot.
