BJSC 135 – Daniel Bortz – You Can Stay Forever – 5th

BJSC 134 – EXUM – Dark Kept Secret - DNQ

BJSC 133 – BABii – Shadow – 39th

After mixed results, Cumulonimbia got a smash with ‘You Can Stay Forever’ last contest. Rare Facture is poised to carry on the streak, can it?

Entrant History

Rare Facture have not been entered to BJSC before. Hailing from Salt Lake City, they enjoy making melodic music.

Cumulonimbia will perform 1st in Semi-Final H.

BJSC 135 – Pawsa – The Groovy Cat - DNQ

BJSC 134 – Ewan McVicar – Street Rave - DNQ

BJSC 133 – Netsky & Hybrid Minds – Let Me Hold You – 18th

Aquafina have had a couple of non-qualifiers in the last two contests, including the unforgettable ‘Groovy Cat’. This time, they have brought Ewan McVicar back to see if he can avenge his non-qualifier two contests ago.

Entrant History

Ewan McVicar is a Scottish producer. He has been entered to BJSC once before, DNQing for Aquafina in BJSC 134.

Aquafina will perform 24th in Semi-Final Z.

I'm loving all the effort put into this. I don't know much about the artist I have sent so I'm looking forward to seeing what you've found out about them.

BJSC 135 – Emmi – Drum – 7th

BJSC 134 – poutyface – NEVER f***ING KNOW – 39th

BJSC 133 – twst – Are You Filming Me? – DNQ

New Lexico scored a respectable top 10 last contest with ‘Drum’. This contest they have gone with the rather long-named La Rappresentante di Lista.

Entrant History

La Rappresentante di Lista are an Italian progressive pop-rock band. They took part in Sanremo this year with “Amare”, finishing 11th.

New Lexico will perform 20th in Semi-Final Z.

great to see the semi final reveal format getting used again this contest!

interesting to see Motiv8 getting recycled again and also Ewan McVicar only 2 contests later (let's hope for a Q this time)

Summericia scored an amazing medal position with ‘Red Is The Way’ in BJSC 133, before having non-qualifiers since. Is this a comeback?

Entrant History

Aja seems to be Toronto based. “Red Button” is apparently about walking away from someone who isn’t good for you.

trivia: AJA is one letter off the Japanese word for ‘red’ – ‘Aka’, which is also the name of the character I chose for the picture. Red is indeed the way?

Summericia will perform 6th in Semi-Final Z.

Mosquetania have had a very consistent run over the last few contests, of course hosting one of those as well. ‘Better Tomorrow’ is challenging to keep that consistency, or perhaps something more?

Entrant History

Matt Simons is a Brooklyn-based singer. He might be best known for his 2015 hit “Catch And Release”, which was a hit in a number of European countries.

'

Mosquetania will perform 10th in Semi-Final Z.

Hopefully third time lucky for Aquafina's techno era? (assuming the song is good which it hopefully will be after 'Street Rave' x)

New Lexico's artist name looks more like a political party than a band.

BJSC 135 – United Sexi Boyz – In Your Eyez - DNQ

BJSC 134 – Dove Cameron – LazyBaby – 8th

BJSC 133 – RY X – Bound – 15th

Previously on a streak of success with ‘LazyBaby’ and 'Bound', Kluminican Republic came unstuck last contest with the United Sexi Boyz, and turn to K3 to reverse their fortunes.

Entrant History

K3 won BJSC 83 with ’10,000 Luchtballonen’. They are a Belgian-Dutch girl group with a rotating lineup. ‘Ushaia’ is the lead single of the 2016 album Ushaia that followed 2015’s 10,000 Luchtballonen.

Kluminican Republic will perform 2nd in Semi-Final H.

K3 *.*

My other main potential was produced by Motiv8 so it’s probably just as well I didn’t send that as their sound is pretty recognisably them on everything they’ve put their name to, at least in the 90s.

BJSC 135 – Camille – Vuurwerk – 9th

BJSC 134 – Polo & Pan – Dorothy – 23rd

BJSC 133 - Charlotte Cardin – Meaningless – 24th

Responsible for the Untouched tribute Vuurwerk coming top 10 last contest and the rather wonderful ‘Dorothy’ of 2 contests ago, Bøtanikkä are continuing a tidy little streak as they enter the joint-shortest (two other entrants also managed this!) artist and song title with only 8 characters between RAJA and ZORA.

ZOMBIE ALERT: Bøtanikkä are assigned Zombie number 4, Junko Konno, the legendary Showa (70s/80s) idol.

Entrant History

Like with Varakë earlier I can find very little about RAJA aside from that they are probably Russian.

Bøtanikkä will perform 9th in Semi-Final H.

Amazing effort with all of this Iz! I'll catch up with everything properly after dinner but so far I think Lex's song is the only one I know (via listening to all the Sanremo songs this year)

BJSC 134 – Benny Goodman And His Orchestra - "Sing, Sing, Sing" - DNQ

BJSC 133 - Buffy Sainte-Marie and Tanya Tagaq - You Got To Run (Spirit Of The Wind) – 19th

Singerpurear are coming off a DNQ streak, but scored a top 20 hit with ‘You Got To Run’ not that long ago.

HORSE ALERT: Singerpurear are assigned El Condor Pasa – an American-bred racehorse who saw a ton of success in Japan around the turn of the century.

Entrant History

Banderas were an English music duo from the early 90s. “This Is Your Life” was their most successful single, a short-lived top 20 hit.

Singerpurear will perform 13th in Semi-Final Z.

Thanks Iz for the effort...I think my artist is actually from Ukraine...I could be wrong though!!!

That was the other option, I can't tell Russian from Ukrainian and they were hard to search for.

BJSC 134 – COBRAH – GOOD PUSS – 6th

BJSC 133 – Doss – Puppy – 1st

Comeback winners with ‘Puppy’, N DNTN have appealed to both sides of the cat vs dog war in recent contests, and now they’re going for a comeback with ‘Re-Wild’.

Entrant History

Kelly Lee Owens came 16th in BJSC 124 for Aeroche. She is a Welsh electronic musician, ‘Re-Wild’, though not the remix, is from her 2020 album Inner Song. also I just realised I spelt the remix name wrong in that banner. Will fix that later.

N DNTN will perform 3rd in Semi-Final Z.

The name 'thisisNAMASTE' seemed familiar and I'm not sure where from - may have been someone (Rich himself?) confirming them in a previous contest but then changing partway through?

Have not heard this remix of 'Re-Wild' yet but cool to see Kelly Lee Owens in the contest again, her album was great. x
