Chelsie Giles, competing at her first Olympics, finished third in the -52kg event, beating Switzerland's Fabienne Kocher to win bronze.
I've never watched Taekwondo so didn't really get it at first, but I loved how the lead kept changing with seconds to go, gripping to watch. Shame for Bradly, but Silver Medal on their first time is nothing to be sniffed at.

A shame for Jade Jones losing in her first round, but she already has two Olympic golds in her locker so not too much to complain about! Great results for Sinden and Giles though getting GB their first medals.

Yes definitely - I don't think I've seen too many other sports where the winner can change so much in just a matter of seconds. I saw that the winner wasn't even a contender and had to go through the qualification round so well done to him as well.

I haven't watched any of the Olympics coverage this year so far oops but from the previous couple of Olympics I found taekwondo to be one of the most exciting sports to watch - never had a clue what was going on, mind, but indeed it is great fun just because of how unpredictable it is and the tendency for the lead to change at a moment's notice.

2 silvers for GB in taekwondo so far as Lauren Williams also took one home - shame to hear about Jade Jones' early exit but at least there's still a medal for a different partial namesake of our own Jade (!)

Bianca Walkden securing GB another taekwondo medal with a victory in her bronze medal match just now.
They won a bronze in 2000 - this is their first silver though and their first medal since changing their name to North Macedonia.

Luis Suarez inspiring boxers every day :kink:

Good to see another medal for Team GB, Bianca clearly sounded disappointed she didn't get the gold in her interview but still a good result for her and rounded off a good edition of taekwondo for us!

British boxers Ben Whittaker and Pat McCormack are both guaranteed at least a bronze in the boxing! (because apparently both semi-final losers get a medal in the boxing ^_^)

I have always wondered why that was the case - I guess they don't want to risk further injuries for something as 'insignificant' as a bronze medal match. I think it's the same for wrestling (then taekwondo and judo also have 2 bronzes per event but they still require the bronze medal winners to finish on a victory, they just have a slightly convoluted repechage system).

edit: I am wrong, wrestling uses the repechage system as well, boxing is the only one that gives a bronze medal directly to semi-final losers.
