It's 2 weeks on top for Marshmello and Jonas Brothers with the best version of Can't Smile Without You that I've heard, love Leave Before You Love Me as The Bee Gees remix of 1977's More Than A Woman, never a single for the Gibb brothers, outdoes the Tavares brilliant version from 1978. RAYE gets a first solo top 10, and highest new entry is a Pnau mashup remix of Elton John's Sacrifice (which topped my charts twice, in 1989 and 1990) and a cover by Dua Lipa of his Rocket Man, which hit 2 in my charts of 1972 and topped 2 more times as an oldie. Elton also has Nothing Else Matters at 7 with Miley Cyrus, so he's certainly partnering up with my fave female pop stars of the moment! Not bad for 50 years of continuous hart hits.

 

Aqua leap into the top 40 with their Pride cover of I Am What I Am, their biggest chart hit for me since Cartoon Heroes went top 10 21 years ago, Anne-Marie & Little Mix also bound up into the 40, Kiss My (Uh Oh) indeed, and Keane bung out an unreleased decent track Dirt, reminding us that it'd be nice if they got back together again with new material, in at 47. Texas make it 3 in a row from the latest album as the very good You Can Call Me is in at 53, Alison Krauss & Robert Plant pair up again to take up where they left off in 2008 for a 5th duet together, Alison pushing 30 years of chart action and Robert 40 years of solo action, not including Led Zep stuff.

 

Iko Iko returns for the first time since The Belle Stars and Natasha took it into the 1982 charts, Sigma add to their growing list, and The Stranglers get a first chart entry in 30 years with new material - or at least Jean-Jacques Burnell does - extending their chart span from 13 years to 43 years in one fell-swoop. The Killers make it 17 years with a modest Springsteen-ish ballad, Tones & I gets that elusive follow-up, Raleigh Ritchie extends his run, while a bunch of recent chart stars are Out Out at 75.

Leave Before You Love Me slaying your #2 still :wub: it's good!

I'm very happy to see You still climbing it's also been a slow burner for me and should easily outdo it's peak of #16 next Monday for me I think! It's taken 10 weeks to reach #16 although it did fall a lil bit this week. And 12 weeks to get to it's peak here.

Call On Me also still climbing :wub: I think? It's peaked for me? Should hang around for a while though!

Cold Heart is fantastic. I had assumed it was gonna knock Ed off #1 on the official chart, but he's still #1 officially with Dua/Elton barely scraping the top 30 although I guess it could climb.

Take My Breath is a bop! Very good stuff. I'm so happy he's not straying too far from his last albums sound.

I was hoping for Bad Habits to climb a bit faster. Hopefully it does a 'you' and keeps gaining for weeks :lol:

I'm hyped that Don't Go Yet appears to becoming a hit on your chart :cheer: :funky:

Leave Before You Love Me slaying your #2 still :wub: it's good!

I'm very happy to see You still climbing it's also been a slow burner for me and should easily outdo it's peak of #16 next Monday for me I think! It's taken 10 weeks to reach #16 although it did fall a lil bit this week. And 12 weeks to get to it's peak here.

Call On Me also still climbing :wub: I think? It's peaked for me? Should hang around for a while though!

Cold Heart is fantastic. I had assumed it was gonna knock Ed off #1 on the official chart, but he's still #1 officially with Dua/Elton barely scraping the top 30 although I guess it could climb.

Take My Breath is a bop! Very good stuff. I'm so happy he's not straying too far from his last albums sound.

I was hoping for Bad Habits to climb a bit faster. Hopefully it does a 'you' and keeps gaining for weeks :lol:

I'm hyped that Don't Go Yet appears to becoming a hit on your chart :cheer: :funky:

Thanks glad you like those at the top end - You is indeed heading for a new peak today, I played it in the car and it's still sounding classy and fresh! Pity Elton couldnt get the streaming numbers, it's pretty decent. Bad Habits is still going up, but I'm mostly a bit overly-familiar with it now, but Don;t Go Yet is fresh and new and climbing :)

Thanks for the kind words, appreciate it, and I'm mostly doing OK thanks apart from ongoing flashbacks which I'm having to learn to live with as I have mum to look after so that's priority number one. Getting into new music has always been my way of coping and helping with a positive outlook, so that's also a priority for me! :)

 

Glad you're into the remix of Banderas, I was a bit sad they didn't make the final of BJSC, I think it's a grower though, and maybe the remix would have done better. I'm also with you, never liked I Am What I Am much, a bit of a cheesy gay cliche on the whole, but this subdued sensitive reading gives the lyrics new life and relevance. Aqua amaze!

 

Carly Simon's Why is a fab Nile Rodgers classic, this is its 3rd-time-round in my charts :)
