Commentary

 

Starting off the top five we have Oliver Heldens with what is his biggest chart hit here for literally years, with the potential to have a 'millionaire' sticker next to its place in the chart history by the year's end. It's a song that has all the best parts of Oliver's production quirks alongside an incredibly catchy vocal. If this passed you by because it wasn't a hit then I'd give it a listen if you did enjoy his past hits because it is definitely on that level.

Commentary

 

Top trance entry here now, and also one of the biggest trance songs ever in this chart having spent 8 weeks at #1 including having the most recent Christmas number one. Such a well written and emotional song with a huge payoff in the final break. Aly & Fila eventually followed it up with another top 10 hit but that one sits fairly low down the YTD top 100. Hopefully Plumb manages to feature on some more trance songs too.

It may have been my one BJSC winner of the year however only #3 in the year-to-date. It is a real musical masterpiece though, even with its 7 minute runtime held up very well with repeat listens. It wasn't the first Worakls song to appear on my chart but the song that made me really start caring more for him as a name being excited for future output (and indeed the follow-up single Inked also made it to #1 here).

Commentary

 

A brilliant dance-pop track and one that wouldn't sound out of place at all in the UK chart but of course it saw no push whatsoever (and I'm sure Armada wouldn't have a reason to try anyway). Felon have made a handful of decent-mid tier house tracks but this really blew the rest of their output from the water being a proper banger. Oddly well over half a year on from its release there's still no follow-up though.

So it's this track that's #1 at this stage of the year, not my introduction to Grandbrothers (that being 'All the Unknown') but the first song I clicked on when checking through their other output and was an instant standout. They're very unique for the way they combine electronica with classical and this song is the best combination of the two with beautiful piano segments and a big atmospheric build along the way. This also managed to go top 20 in BJSC against my own prediction. With its current chart stability it could very well hold on to #1 right to the end of the year...

I'm actually surprised to see My Heart Goes enter so high here. It's very by the numbers for Topic. I mean I like it but there's better on the album, especially for lead in week.

That remix of Titanium is pure trash imo. I know you probably livey it but I feel like the remix was unnecessary and has murdered the song :kink:

I'm impressed that Heartbreak Anthem is still here (though not mad about it.) Issa bop :music:

Cold Heart is absolutely flopping here. I feel like there might be a mistake and this should be top 20 😘

Don't Be Shy stalling as well :o this is one I'm so divided on. I do have it pegged in to chart at some point but.. and it's a big but... It's so generic I feel like I could get bored of it in a couple weeks. So I'm in two minds about charting it :lol:

Ooh no at that Titanium remix shade! It's of course many leagues below the original version but a decent take on it fitting for its 10th anniversary.

No that's definitely not a mistake for Cold Heart, I'm trying to get into it but I don't really love it. Don't Be Shy I can't see really taking off for me either, it's certainly quite generic.

Hmm I think they picked the right song myself having given a listen to the album, it certainly stands out as a future hit single even if it's nothing new from Topic.
