Chart commentary: There are 16 new entries and 1 re-entry this week. This week features the most number of songs to be ranked since the inception of the chart: 143. Losing My Mind debuts high this week at no. 3 and I recommend the drops of this song, especially the last one! Elsewhere, Skillet drops a banger with Surviving the Game. Lower down, we have Kata Kozma releasing a single in response to recent anti-LGBTQIA+ laws in Hungary and it sends a powerful message ridiculing the laws. Otherwise, lots of non-English new entries for you to enjoy!

 

May Sfadia rises to the top, with the song literally translated as "See you in the eyes". The epic instrumentation grapples me and the final chorus showcases her vocal capability too. Jerusalem remains strong, only dropping 1 position down. Meanwhile, the beautiful song breaks into top 10, as well as Nice To Meet You. Biggest jump is tied between 3 songs: Annatko anteeksi, Run River, Can't Let It Drop.

Number One Entry

 

Discovered this song from another song contest, I enjoy the instrumentation here. It sounds epic and fast-paced. It gives you the wow feeling when you first hear it and the final chorus is chef's kiss for me.

 

Highest New Entry

 

I have favoured Elohim's songs for years and this is probably her strongest release. Together with Party Favor, Elohim dives in the soundscape with some crazy arrangement and sound effects. The final drop is mind-blowing and probably qualifies as the hardest drop of 2021.

 

Highest Jump

 

I gave up selecting one song for this category since there are 3 songs with the highest jump and all of them have something to talk about.

 

Going with the first song here is Annetko anteeksi. This powerful Finnish metal is sung entirely in Finnish. The instrumentation is grungy and the vocals are shouty and strong. The chorus is somewhat introspective which makes this song such a great channel to express inner angst. Finland please send rock sung in Finnish next year and I will happily vote for you. :P

 

Second up is Run River. This is indie folk. It is a lot more laid-back than the first song, but the chorus has a great melody. The instrumentation supports it well too, and you'd get that nice feeling!

 

Finally, we have Can't Let It Drop. This is more of alternative EDM. The artist name BB Cooper is actually inspired by DB Cooper, which explains why BB Cooper is very mysterious about his persona. The drop is the highlight of the song, with fabulous melody and bass-heavy beat. The verses are also well-composed, and this is an all-rounder which goes well together!

 

One to Watch

 

I first noticed this song through its amazing arrangement. The melody is great too. However, I'm more impressed by the message of this song as well, and such a great response to oppose the recent anti-LGBTQIA+ laws in Hungary. Queen you dropped your crown! :heart:

Music Means Love Forever is very disappointing even though it's a big room house song, -_-

Hi Ken! I first remember Elohim from Sensations, which is probably her best song ever. The vibe and the melody is just so memorable that I keep coming back to this song from time to time. Losing My Mind is a bit more wild from her but seems to suit her very well. Party Favor does a fabulous job mixing the sounds and the last drop is just mind-blowing.

 

Interesting to hear about Music Means Love Forever here :thinking: I think the song is a great crossover between the style of Steve Aoki and Armin van Buuren. Both have very different sounds but it goes well together without sacrificing the drop. The drop itself might not be the most unpredictable but at least it is catchy and danceable.

 

This is also the first time I heard about Rave Republic and this song is quite a decent progressive house track!

Sorry is very brainwashing but the backstory is interesting and I'm glad Emma is able to channel through her emotions with this song :D Ti amo ma is another great song by Alfa. He is destined for big things and I hope he represents Italy in the Eurovision in the future!
