LeBron James became the leading NBA scorer in combined regular season and play-off history in the Los Angeles Lakers' 117-115 defeat by the Golden State Warriors.

He scored 26 points to take his career tally to 44,157, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's 44,149.

However, James missed a last-second free throw that would have won the game for the Lakers in San Francisco.

Klay Thompson scored a season-high 33 points for the Warriors.

With 36,526 points, James remains behind Abdul-Jabbar (38,387) and Karl Malone (36,928) on the regular-season points list.

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a season-high 50 points as defending NBA champions the Milwaukee Bucks ended their two-game losing run to beat the Indiana Pacers 128-119.

Giannis claimed 14 rebounds and made 17 of his 21 attempts, while Khris Middleton added 19 points.

It is the first time the Greek has scored 50 points since the Bucks won their first title in 50 years in July.

James Harden scored 27 points on his Philadelphia 76ers debut in a 133-102 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Luka Doncic starred for the Dallas Mavericks as they sent the Los Angeles Lakers to a third straight defeat.
