Forgot to vote this year. My top five would have been:

1. Don't You Worry Child

2. Faded

3. Changed The Way You Kissed Me

4. Starboy

5. Animals

All great tracks, thou I don't think any will be anywhere close winning and Animals already out.

One vote would’ve changed quite a lot of things to be honest… the results are CLOSE

More results tomorrow

Obviously one of the top two. I think I haven't missed voting in the final for like never so don't make me think I crashed my favourite song winning :D

Lots of climbs in this section including a couple of new entries and a string of songs which are on their final year of being part of Record of the Decade. At 70 we see an 18 place rise for ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ in its last year, the song was back by 17 voters overall and is the 11th highest song from 2011.

69 sees ‘Higher Love’ climbs 5 places in its second year, it finished 4th for 2019 in its heat and in the final is the 4th highest ranked song for 2019 as well. Also in this section we have 2 debuts as ‘Rain on Me’ is a new entry at 67 and ‘Exile’ is new at 65. ‘Rain on Me’ is the second appearance for Gaga and her second highest song, with now just ‘The Edge of Glory’ remaining. Meanwhile ‘Exile’ is the first of 3 appearance by Taylor Swift with ‘Blank Space’ and ‘Style’ still to come.

At 68 ‘Wake Me Up’ surges up the rankings and makes the final for just the second time. The song climbs a massive 82 places, however its rise is somewhat overshadowed by the rise of ‘I Could Be The One’ at 66. ‘I Could Be The One’ also reaches the final for just the second time, last year it fell to 307th place, this year however it is the top placed Avicii track climbing a massive 241 places. With both of these songs placing, it means Avicii is all out of songs, however has done extremely well this year with 4 songs making the final round.

At 64 ‘Changed the Way I Kissed You’ climbs 190 places in its final year and reaches an all-time high position before its exit. The song gained 12 votes and is probably the last time an Example song will make the final of ROTD….well unless he has some form of resurgence that is. however its good to see this absolute banger finish on a high. At 63, ‘I Took a Pill’ also climbs to reach an all-time high position and reaches the top 100 for the first time. The song did well in its 2016 heat, making 8th place however seemed to struggle slightly in the semi-final to only just make it through to the final in 21st place.

To round off this group 2 big falls, the first being ‘On Hold’ which drops 24 places to its second lowest position on ROTD. ‘On Hold’ finished 4th in its heat and gained direct entry to the final, however is overall the 6th highest ranked song from 2016 only just managing to beat fellow 2016 song ‘I took a pill’. Possibly the biggest shock here is drop for one-time runner up ‘One Last Time. The song drops 43 places and out of the top 20 to its second lowest position. In its heat, ‘One Last Time’ finished in 2nd place, in the final it is the 9th highest placed song from that year. It’s the 3rd highest ranked Ariana Grande song and means she only had ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ and ‘Into You’.

very pleasing big jumps for Wake Me Up and ICBTO. Hope that they can repeak again before their time is up.

that’s a great exit for Example too and nice to see Mike Posner finally make the final and at a fairly decent position.

Rain On Me ahead of Shallow for Gaga also great to see.

Oof, One Last Time. That's a big fall for a former runner-up, enjoying the change even if I did really like its streak of good performances.

Nice performing year for Avicii with those two, especially Wake Me Up.

A good comeback by both Wake Me Up and I Could Be The One. Glad they finished in front of Higher Love. (I wouldn't be hating HL this much if Kygo had never reworked Tina Turner's and Donna Summer's songs)

Good to see In Ibiza getting its first top 100 as well!

I honestly think Kygo's Tina Turner is MILES better than Higher Love oops

Great to see Wake Me Up do well! Also kinda glad One Last Time has dropped although it surprises me how far! I just never liked it that much.

That drop for 'One Last Time' :nocheer: I think this year it was higher than ever in my votes, aww!

Solid start for 'Rain On Me'. Now intrigued to see where 'Physical' will debut from the 2020 songs.

Wow at One Last Time falling that far :o I really thought that would be a permanent top 5 fixture in this until it was no longer eligible. A shame as it's one of the big pop tracks that I really like.

Whilst it's a perfectly respectable position, I was expecting a higher debut for Rain On Me. On the new entry front, I am however delighted to see Exile perform so well. One of my absolute favourite songs from last year and I'd never expected to love a Taylor Swift track as much as I absolutely do love that one.

Billie Eilish finished last in the Final on her first outing with 'Bad Guy' and now improves to #60. She is also due a climb with 'Everything I Wanted' which finished at #52 last year. It seems unlikely that any of her current material will be joining them next year although 'Happier Than Ever' could maybe contend for a semi-finalist position. Arcade Fire are now out of the running with 'Reflektor' taking a big hit although not as hard as their other entry as it only sinks to #59. It still did well to make it this far though given its previous history in this contest.

The biggest gain of this section comes from Harry Styles whose debut solo single made a big impression this year making the semis and the Final for the first time at #58. 'Adore You' and 'Watermelon Sugar' did also make the semis this year so could potentially be joining next time. Coincidentally a place above Styles is 'Style' from Taylor Swift, down from having reached the top 40 for the first time last year. Taylor had three songs make the final and they all place in the lower half with 'Blank Space' making #56, up on last year though still a way from its top 40 peak. The re-recorded versions of these two will likely be out by this time next year which could perhaps give them a boost.

The Weeknd is also up with 'Starboy' this year reaching a new peak of #55. It has yet to leave the Final since it arrived five years ago and 'Blinding Lights' could stay here to join it for the next five - that will be his one track remaining in the upper half. Meanwhile Christine reaches a new low with 'Tilted' (or 'Christine' for the few of you who prefer French). It was a better year than normal for her in the yearly rounds with her other material but this couldn't translate into a return to the top 40 for this song.

Having been bobbing about in the top 500 for the whole decade Naked & Famous finally make their biggest impression yet with 'Young Blood' racing up to #52 in its final year helped by a few more indie fans coming over to vote, who also get Haim back in the Final for their 4th outing with 'Falling' placing just outside the top 50. There's also good news for EDM fans though with Rudimental starting to return towards its first-year top 40 peak. 'Feel the Love' has been slowly gaining favour again since its mid-decade crash and rises to #53.

What do you make of the rundown so far? Any predictions for the top half?

Lots of songs that I voted for just falling short of the top half, so I've lost half the songs I voted for, especially pleasing to see Young Blood do so well in its final year.

As usual with these rates, most of my absolute faves have fallen before we reach the top section. Plenty still to root for though.

My prediction for the top half is I think and hope Faded might have a good year (though no idea how well it did last year!)

And surely Physical is going straight into the top 10 as a minimum?

Speaking of which, if Cold Heart reaches #1, would Dua then have had 3 #1s all of which aren't really considered her signature hits anymore?

24 songs I voted for in the final are still in and I voted for many of the other 26 in earlier rounds, so it's going well!

I would definitely still consider 'New Rules' to be one of her 'signature hits', albeit probably now falling to 3rd behind 'Don't Start Now' and 'Levitating'.

We kick off the top 50 with a glut of dance songs which mostly climb to reach new peaks. At 50, ‘Runaway (U & I) gained a direct route to the final and climbs 64 places to reach the top 50 for the first time. It managed to reach the final way back in its first year, however has fallen quite a way short in subsequent years. In finished in 5th place in its yearly heat, but finishes in 7th place overall for 2015 in the final round.

49 sees ‘Waves’ take an 11 place climb to reach the top 50 for the first time. For the first 4 years, the song was hovering around the top 200/300, however 2 years ago it made the final for the first time and has been climbing ever since. ‘Waves’ gained 14 votes in total and finishes as the 6th highest ranked song from 2014.

The dance songs continue at 48 as ‘This Girl’ rebounds up the chart after dropping out of the top 100 for the first time last year. The song has always faired in the low top 100, apart from last year where it took a hefty drop down to 124. This year however its different as the song climbs 76 places and reaches an all-time high position. ‘This Girl’ gained 15 votes in total and is the 3rd highest song from 2016 – meaning that year has just 2 songs left in the running ‘Into You’ and ‘Faded’.

At 47 is a new entry for ‘Roses’ which has a great first year, despite only coming in 23rd place in its semi-final, the song picked up 14 votes in total and manages to debut with the top 50. ‘Roses’ is the 5th highest placed song from 2020.

Lastly at 46, ‘King’ bucks the rend and slips 11 places, however still manages to retain its top 50 position. ‘King’ initially debuted in the top 20 and managed to reach its peak 2 years later, however the last 3 years has failed to reach them heights. The last few years Years & Years have managed to have ‘Shine’ in the final as well, however that dropped out before the final. I’m guessing ‘King# will be a mainstay, although it remains to be seen if any of their newer material will ever manage to topple (or match) ‘King’s’ success.

amazing to see Mr Probz and Kungs finally make the top 50 for both being firmly in my top 10 songs of the decade. Galantis and Saint Jhn making it too are very welcome as is Years & Years not dropping too much. let's hope that we don't get all the EDM out before the real business end though!! (well I already know the outcome...)

It is goodbye to 'Someone Like You' from the top 40 then, dropping 25 places to #45 on its final outing - as incredibly it has now been ten years since her record breaking '21'. She still has one entry yet to come out of her three which will all become ineligible next year - she'll have to rely on 'Hello' to make it past the semis next time (52nd/75 this year) or perhaps something from her forthcoming '30'. The song did manage to spend over half of its run in the top 50 however never besting its #10 debut. Seven songs from 2011 are still to come.

We have a few songs here lumbered with unlucky top 45 peaks now whose positions do not change much from last year. Mark Ronson had a huge revival with 'Uptown Funk' this time around, up from #243 last year into the top 40, however NBLAH is down to #44 after a big second-year climb. It was very well supported with 17 voters but not enough of these were big points. Miley herself is still to come with her 'Midnight Sky' - one of four 2020 entries in the top 40. The song is also the 2nd-biggest of 2018 with only Ariana Grande representing the year now.

Rihanna's 'Diamonds' will only have one more chance to reach the top 40 now as it is up only a place to #43, a new peak for the song now. She has two remaining entries although both of these are from 2011 so this will likely be her top entry next year. We are very fast approaching the period where the entirety of Rihanna's peak era will be swept away from the contest and she'll have to rely solely on her second Calvin Harris collab and the 'Anti' era - unless this supposed 9th album is to ever arrive.

'Prayer in C' is up next with a very unfortunate recent run of 41-45-42 however it is still preferable to its first four years where it couldn't make it out of the semis. The two big Robin Schulz remixes now sit together in the top 50 for the first time (and 'Waves' being appreciated as much as this here was really overdue). Lastly 'Titanium' takes a bit of a fall, having recovered to #25 last year it sits just outside the top 40 missing it by one point. Its 9-year run of making the final is impressive nonetheless anyhow and hopefully for its final year it can make another recovery.
