January 20, 20223 yr Ay Mama is my favourite too. Narrowly ahead of Terra, though, either would be a great pick for Spain that should grab far more attention than most of their recent entries.
January 20, 20223 yr As much as I have Mejores as my most favourite song, I don't think this will do better for Spain in Eurovision. They have the best chance with Terra but Calle de la Llorería will also be nice. Ay Mama will need something extraordinary on stage to bring Spain a good result.
January 21, 20223 yr Ay Mama is my favourite of the selection too. I know Terra seems to be the fan favourite but it doesn’t quite hit the mark as fully as it could for me, which is weird because on paper it sounds the sort of thing I’d usually really rave over. I don’t share the enthusiasm that a lot of the fandom has that Terra would get Spain out of the bottom five sadly, however I definitely think Ay Mama has Eurovision and commercial hit and viral potential. I see your point and agree with everything you said. Terra has a good base/rhythm, perhaps catchy chorus and experienced vocalists but not sure how that would translate live on TV. I saw a video of them rehearsing to the song and I could just hear them merely shouting, not singing. Sometimes I feel like it looks like the fan favourite because many supporters use it as a political way of enfuriating the most conservative voters of the country as the song is in all official languages of Spain and not in Spanish (just a sentence at the end). Anyhow, Terra is probably the safest option to take to Eurovision and I still believe this will be the winner of the Benidorm Fest and Ay Mama will end up being the best selling song in the long run when it comes to radio plays and streaming, as it happened with Lo Malo in 2018. PS. Something tells me Chanel is going to be a surprise when it comes to the live shows, the song is an earworm and a slow burner and she is definitely going to serve a well-prepared choreography.
January 22, 20223 yr Why am I the only person who thinks Culpa is way better than the rest? It's destined to go onto my losing-national-selection playlist, isn't it?
January 24, 20223 yr Luna Ki has withdrawn from Benidorm because her song uses autotune as a clear part of its structure and she wouldn't be able to do it at Eurovision Was hardly a favourite but shame, with advances in song recording technology and rise of hyperpop this might become something that Eurovision will have to confront eventually - too early to say if it will though.
January 26, 20223 yr Mejores is some of the biggest flops I've ever seen... :( The choreo needs a lot of tidying up and the intonation is a bit off plus the harmonisation is not quite there. SloMo slayed the staging and her vocal control is still pretty good given there is so much movement I was worried she will get out of breath and fail to control her intonation.
January 27, 20223 yr Truly deserved winner of the first semifinal. This can easily be the highest position of Spain in decades in Eurovision. TO2yGXVQCfo
January 27, 20223 yr PS. Something tells me Chanel is going to be a surprise when it comes to the live shows, the song is an earworm and a slow burner and she is definitely going to serve a well-prepared choreography. I knew it. :cheer: :yahoo:
January 27, 20223 yr Rooting for Ay Mama to get the ticket to Turin but SloMo was the best from last night so very pleased with that result and wouldn't mind at all if that gets sent!
January 27, 20223 yr Rooting for Ay Mama to get the ticket to Turin but SloMo was the best from last night so very pleased with that result and wouldn't mind at all if that gets sent! Absolutely agree with you Jahq. I always find with Eurovision there are those songs that are totally disappointing when you get to finally see them performed live, and others where it is all about the live performance. SloMo is one that is elevated massively with the choreography, great live vocals and general fabulousness of Chanel. Would not be disappointed if Spain chose this on Saturday!
January 28, 20223 yr Javiera out :( Culpa was still the third best in this semi even at her weakest 3 - Rigoberta storming it is awesome though.
January 28, 20223 yr omg Rigoberta :o  What a difference the live performance it made for me...love it now!!!
January 29, 20223 yr Even though Chanel is my favourite, my prediction for tonight is: 1. Rigoberta 2. Chanel 3. Tanxugueiras Any of the three would be great entries for Spain at Eurovision and easily the best 20+ years.
January 29, 20223 yr Fully team Rigoberta tonight - there's potential for Spain's best result in years with that one!
January 29, 20223 yr Chanel gets the ticket to Turin - a week ago this would have been a shocker but after that performance in the semi that was the performance to beat!
January 29, 20223 yr A bit bummed about Rigoberta Bandini. She delivered tonight and would have been iconic for Spain but SloMo is absolutely brilliant too!
January 30, 20223 yr I think Spain have made the right decision tonight. I loved Rigoberta too, but I was not confident in it translating in Turin, and I just don't think 'Terra' was going to have any appeal outside of Spain at all. Chanel winning despite being third on the televote is definitely an eyebrow-raiser, but I don't think 'Terra' would have topped the televote without the politics that surrounds it either, so...
January 30, 20223 yr I can't say with confidence how well this will do without looking at the rest of the entry lineup, as unlike the other two, it's something that could easily get overshadowed depending what comes out later, and it was well behind both Rigoberta and Terra in my affections so I'm a little bummed - especially as it's a victory against the televote. But it was a great effort of a national final from Spain so I do want them to do okay from this.
January 30, 20223 yr what a bummer...Rigoberta would have been iconic. Winning song misses something for me albeit she's a killer dancer!!!
