Posted October 20, 20213 yr 17th October 2021 It's 5 weeks on top for Don't Shut Me Down, holding off Agnes from getting her 3rd chart-topper, meaning the entire top 3 is Swedish for the first time, and all Song Contest winners songs years after the event. What were the chances? Well, I have always been partial to Swedish pop! Gerry Marsden finally gets his deserved posthumous top 10 slot with childhood fave Don't Let The Sun, and Dopamine shoots up to 8. I could do with some dopamine lately, so if that's the best I can do, I'll take it. Johnny Marr is top 20 for the second solo time, but he's had zillions in bands and guest spots dating back to 1983, and Olivia Rodrigo finally hits the top 20 after 11 weeks on the chart and about 5 months late. Joy Crookes is highest new entry with the delicious When You Were Mine at 32, and Emma Steinbakken debuts with Sorry. No I"M sorry - I forgot to chart it last week! Texas have an Unbelievable 4th charting track off the Hi album, and Coldplay make it 3 from their new album, as Humankind slides in behind. James Morrison returns to extend his chart run to 15 years (!), his 8th, and Emeli Sande makes it 10 years and a 14th. Gorillaz debut with an old track from a decade ago that I can't find listed as charting for me - bizarre as I recall liking it, so I guess I just must have forgot to chart it! It's been selling on itunes, so a good excuse. Sigrid follows-up, Kygo joins forces with X Ambassadors and both return to the charts, Westlife are on a comeback 10 years since they last charted, and 22 years since they first charted, and a surprisingly numerous run of 21 chart entries, 3 of them top 10's. Who knew! Belinda Carlisle covers 60's golden oldie Get Together, which charted for The Dave Clark 5 in the UK (and my charts in 1970), and finally, Adele is back at 30. As the world goes Adele mad her new tune just about beats Westlife's return for me. You should listen to the Billen Ted remix of Don't Break The Heart. You might prefer that! Easy On Me only the second lowest new entry. I do hope this doesn't mean you're not a huge fan of it. You get your wish, My Universe climbs this week (a bit) :D Better Days is pretty good, though I've peaked on it already, got a lot of plays on radio 2 :lol: I'll look out for that remix, and oops on Adele's - I've bought it, but so far it's a tad Adele-by-numbers for me - especially if she's had 5 years to do something special. Fantastic chart as always :wub: Hi AH! and thanks for the 12 points for poor ol Harpo as we both DNQ! :o :wub: I'm not tired of any of the ABBA tracks, guess I'm still a fan (with my ticket to see Voyager) :lol: Apparently I never charted that Gorillaz track yet I know I liked it! :o I can only guess I just plain forgot to chart it cos it never made the top 75 to remind me :o The best version of Get Together is the original Youngbloods version, a big US hit circa 1968/9 - and I think I first heard it in the 90's! I've also never been a fan of Westlife, but my charts suggest I rated at least 3 singles enough to go top 10, and a batch of them to chart lower down :o I pretty much like their uptempo stuff (like this one) and dislike the soppy drippy stuff (the chart-toppers) :D cheers!
