What makes an album "best album" though? Sales? Positive reviews by "critics"?

I suppose what I'm driving at is: why would it be so wrong if fans did the voting and not the committee? Both groups would be affected by sentiments, and individual/collective tastes. If I remember correctly, when Girls Aloud won British single in 2009, it was fan voted.
To echo others why is Pop/R&B lumped together in an award.... and is there any real need to get rid of the gender categories? Could they not just expand by having genre awards in addition.

Gender categories aren't very inclusive - they're quite the opposite in fact - in a progressive world!

Hoping Adele sweeps the 4 categories she's nominated in . She would then tie Robbie Williams for most BRIT awards (13).

International song I hope goes to Billie Eilish - "Happier Than Ever".

Other than that I'm not too fussed.

Oh and ABBA for international group! It would be amazing to see them win their first BRIT award.

Very happy with the 2 noms for Joy Crookes, she also deserved album of the year

Really hope Sam Fender wins Album of the year

Very good call merging Female/Male into 1 and adding genre categories and more international awards

I must have missed it on the announcement for the removal of the gender awards but was shocked but very happy to see an international song category. I don’t know why they couldn’t stretch to album too but it’s been long overdue and im all for it. Refreshing to see genres included after 15 years, even if they are mixed matched and don’t make a huge amount of sense. I’m hoping either Adele or Fender win album and I that someone other than billie wins international artist. She shouldn’t have been nominated last year.
I’ll be honest, I’d never heard of Little Simz - she must have a cracking publicist

Love when awards shows do this, just primo content

I mean her album is amongst the most critically acclaimed of the year x

It charted at #4 with no charting singles - not exactly commercially successful. If this was the Mercury Prize sure, but the Brits are something else.

Yeah the inclusion of Little Simz in all those categories is a bit random even if the album has been critically acclaimed. I expect she'll win Best New Artist given that she has no chance of winning her other categories with the huge names she's up against.

If Adele sweeps the board, could Ed actually walk away completely empty-handed? Awks for him if he does, especially if he performs too which he likely will.

I’d imagine Bad Habits could win Best Single, Adele could win Best Artist / Best Pop Artist and even Sam Fender could win best album
I think Ed will likely win the best pop act given its fan based. Really looking forward to see who wins producer/songwriter of the year. I have a feeling Adele or Ed might pick up the latter.
Ed will surely win something, probably Best Single. Adele perhaps the other 3 she's up for. I'm hoping Adele wins all 4 though.

My predictions:

Album of the year: 30 - Adele

Artist of the year: Ed Sheeran

Group of the year: Coldplay

Song of the Year: Bad Habits - Ed Sheeran

Best Pop/RnB: Ed Sheeran

Best dance act: Joel Corry/Raye

Best new artist: Little Simz

Best Rock/alternative: .......

Best HipHop: Dave

International artist: Olivia Rodrigo

International Group: ABBA

International Song: Good 4 U

Edit: This is purely based on assumptions on degrees of success. Ed with two #1 singles (three if you include the Christmas one), a number one album, and 15 weeks at the top surely counts for something.

But again, I'm sure they'd want some degree of diversity and representation, and my list is actually straight white male dominated!
