NO 121- 21 POINTS

The Tide Is High Blondie (Voter: Steve201- 10 points, Last Dreamer- 11 points)- No 1 for 2 weeks in November 1980

The lowest placed of the Blondie hits (I blame Atomic Kitten for ruining it)- they have 2 left of course.

Reet Petite (The Sweetest Girl In Town) Jackie Wilson (Voter: Fiesta- 16 points, Gooddelta- 5 points)- No 1 for 4 weeks in December/January 1986/87

Another festive chart topper goes (6 of those left) helped by its Claymation promo.

Desire U2 (Voter: Riser- 9 points, Donnahjaneymack- 11 points, Dircadirca- 1 point)- No 1 for 1 week in October 1988

Their only 80s No 1 and out already, 3-1-2-17 tells its own story.

I Feel For You and The Tide Is High were both near misses from my votes. Love U2 as well, but Desire being their only 80s #1 is largely down to the buzz of following up their earlier albums - Angel Of Harlem is the highlight of Rattle Of Hum for me.

Stat time- 7 voters still have ALL their votes in the rate:

AH Gold

Chez Wombat

Im not doing that bad this time. Only lost one with 4 points so far.

Not surprised to see so many singles from the first 3 years leaving soon.

best track from Rattle and Hum is hands down All i Want is You

Tide is High was truly ruined by AK

I Feel For You and The Tide Is High weren’t far from my votes.

Love Reet Petite, probably mainly because it reminds me of Christmas. Another song that’s always in my head.

I voted for ‘The Tide Is High’ as of ‘feels’ a classic probably in part due to the AK version.

Always just found ‘It’s My Party’ ok, kinda a bit weirdly early 80s with the TOTP performances a bit frightening if nothing else. Don’t ask me what I mean by that lol.

Never a fan of ‘I Feel For You’ if you consider some of the other classics that failed to make the top.

Was the ‘Desire’ chart run not a result of the fact they are a fan base act?

I don't think anything revealed so far was even close to being in contention to my votes. Chaka Khan and U2 just out might have pushed for a top 50 as would Don't Stand So Close To Me'- a shame that was so low down, I'd swap positions with Every Breath You Take wherever it finishes, that is truly awful

‘Every Breath You Take’?? Surely one of the greatest guitar riffs ever?
Its My Party and I Feel For You are good, the latter I first discovered from that Virgin Media advert a few years ago.

"Susie and Jeffrey" (B-side of "The Tide Is High") is my second favourite Blondie song.

Edited by Last Dreamer

'I Feel For You' is my favourite from that lot too! I quite like 'It's My Party' as well, shame it's not on Spotify.

I love Blondie in general but have never been crazy about 'The Tide Is High', definitely better to come... B-)

So we haven't yet lost a track which got all its points from 1 voter and was placed in that voters top 10. That will be happening today....

Prince Charming Adam & The Ants (Voter: Jade)- No 1 for 4 weeks in September/October 1981

adam-and-the-ants-prince.jpg

The sensations of 1981 take their first hit on the rundown with this exiting. Adam has two other tracks still in the running though

I Know Him So Well Barbara Dickson & Elaine Paige (Voter: Colm- 1 point, Last Dreamer- 21 points)- No 1 for 4 weeks in February/ March 1985

elaine-paige-barbara.jpg

The sound of ABBA in 85 and the only chart topper for this pair

Move Closer Phyllis Nelson (Voter: AH Gold)- No 1 for 1 week in May 1985

One hit wonder time ahoy- and the last UK No 1 without a promo (for some years anyway).

Prince Charming is such a good song, quite surprised it only got one voter.

I'd have thought it was their trademark song, even more than Stand and Deliver.
