Posted December 15, 20213 yr New in the Apple Music top 200 today off of TikTok, I think it marks the first time an amapiano (South African dance style) song has made it. BPlS6OkQrVE It samples the 1996 Eurohit from the new-age act Era. 6xUnSVTh8fI
December 21, 20213 yr Great use of the sample! Stumbled across it on TikTok today, can see it doing some things after Christmas
December 21, 20213 yr Incredible. It does give me Enigma - Sadeness vibes with the sample because I am not familiar with the original Era song. The intensity of the atmosphere of the music and rap verses is great! Edited December 21, 20213 yr by Snakin' Stevens
December 21, 20213 yr I've not heard this yet but we need a new age type hit tbh. Not that you ever hear those types in the chart ever. 'Ameno' still being absolute brilliance too and a former BJSC entrant of mine too. Would hope this does well after Christmas! Edited December 21, 20213 yr by 🎄Rob S🎄
December 23, 20213 yr Author Must be some licensing issue going on now as it's been removed from Spotify.
December 24, 20213 yr I've gone off amapiano music in general with it being so omnipresent here at the moment. I guess if you don't hear amapiano on radio or in public places as much as I do, it's fun and interesting, but it got boring for me fast. The songs start sounding the same after a while.

There can't be many amapiano songs sampling new age tracks or using choral backing though like this one!?
December 24, 20213 yr There can't be many amapiano songs sampling new age tracks or using choral backing though like this one!? I didn't even notice The song just went straight through me after hearing the drum intro typical of every other amapiano song out there
December 27, 20213 yr same, didn't notice the new age elements either, thought it was more of the same
December 27, 20213 yr It's also a shame an amapiano song by a Nigerian artist is the one Tiktok are latching onto rather than one by a South African artist where the genre originates from
December 27, 20213 yr Hopefully this will come back to Spotify soon. I read that it is a licensing issue but weird how it is still on Apple/Itunes? Its looking likely to go top 10 on itunes soon so hopefully it will be back soon.
December 27, 20213 yr There is still a version of it on Spotify credited to just Nektunez, I assume that is a different version? Oops at licensing issues, hope they're able to sort it out because this was looking on course to be a reasonably big hit. (also did not realise this was another Nigerian artist, I kind of assumed they were South African from the genre oops - so many Nigerian artists charting in the UK recently!)
December 28, 20213 yr Author the Nektunez only version is just the backing track with the sampled Ameno vocals. what an odd situation, its still off Spotify but on Apple.
January 1, 20223 yr Seems to be removed from itunes now too :( That's a pity, I was really looking forward to this being a hit, it is so different to anything else in the UK Charts. Edited January 1, 20223 yr by Auld Lang Snake
January 1, 20223 yr It's back on Spotify for me now. I downloaded it on iTunes the other day though in case it didn't reappear, I really like this and I've been burnt by African tracks being removed from DSPs far too often in the past, albeit usually South African (Zanda Zakuza, Linda & Taryn Bornman, Valeska Muller to name a few who have had tracks I love removed). Edited January 1, 20223 yr by gooddelta
January 1, 20223 yr I too am seeing it on Spotify again but it links to some random compilation version and the production/sample has changed :(
January 1, 20223 yr I can access it through this link but only because I already had it on a playlist, searching for it doesn't bring anything up: https://open.spotify.com/track/3JIWSOzzlJfy...cd34300d5084a28 I see what Lewis says about it going through to a random compilation too.
January 9, 20223 yr Playlisted by 1Xtra this week and it has now been re-added to Spotify as a standalone release (but with a different recording *le sigh*)
