It seems so bizarre when songs like these blow up out of nowhere. I don’t get how they suddenly get so many streams all in one day when no one really knows of them.

The first preview of this song back in November has 22.4m views on TikTok, so clearly there's been a lot of hype for it on there.

She has big Youtube audience too and other songs with millons of Spotify listens (cover of ARUTW among others).

Ah i see. Although it a till seems like it’s blown up more than some major artists songs do. The way it’s shot up the apple and Amazon charts seems as quick or even quicker than the likes of Bad Habits or Easy On Me.

Just had a listen to Fingers Crossed and it doesn't sound like a mega hit particularly, even though it will clearly be one. drivers license massively stood out sonically so I could understand that.

 

It's nice enough but didn't leave a major impression on me, I suppose it has shades of Lewis Capaldi's Before You Go which was extremely popular.

Gayle is definitely #1 combined on Spotify as her angrier version of the song has re entered at #200 after being out for a while meaning she’s on 300k combined with Adele on 275k. Still won’t be enough to make a difference this week I don’t think but good to see her ahead when combined.

She totally sounds like she has a blocked nose though. Thankfully she doesn't sound quite as bad as Mimi Webb, like I saw her being compared to earlier.

I wonder if New Music Friday will include When I'm Gone or skip it altogether. It was the cover and song #1 most other countries in the world last week.
