Dermot Kennedy will hopefully go platinum at some point in 2022, the highlights by Weekend should easily overtake after hours in the next couple of weeks. Those sales for Maroon 5 singles are impressive considering the album was an pretty much a complete flop when released, id love to know of the albums 452,700 sales how many are physical, this album, becky hills get to know , mabel high expectations, and jax jones are albums i always kinda feel were flops but just held up through streaming by continuous additions to the track listing although Maroon 5 dont seem to have done that and have just picked up good streaming in general.

Its cos of the double counting x GH

When you stream any single from any M5 album

Or any playlist or the This is Maroon 5 playlist

You also give streaming points and sales to the GH

Its the same as Elton John and Diamonds

Nobody is buying it or streaming it

But it collects all the streams from any random track you stream

I think The Weeknd has the only 2020s greatest hits in the list. I'd expect the GHs and other pre-2020 albums to dominate this top 100 even more as the decade goes on - unless there's a sizeable change in the rules. It'll be the same in singles - the likes of Wonderwall, Riptide et al will remain consistent streamers and overtake newer songs.

26. Hollywood's Bleeding Post Malone (16-26) 238,500 (T/S 414,100)
27. Dua Lipa Dua Lipa (25-27) 238,100 (T/S 802,700)
28. Get To Know Becky Hill (27-28) 230,300 (T/S 264,000)
29. Confetti Little Mix (29-29) 229,100
30. AM Arctic Monkeys (41-30) 227,100 (T/S 1,473,200)

A relatively stable part of the chart with the Arctic Monkeys improving the most position wise, Dua Lip’s debut set also moves over the 800k mark.

21. Curtain Call- The Hits Eminem (28-21) 269,900 (T/S 2,567,200)
22. High Expectations Mabel (17-22) 266,700 (T/S 340,600)

25. Music To Be Murdered By Eminem (11-25) 247,200

Eminem’s biggest album of the decade is now “Curtain Call” as it overtakes his only studio album of the current decade. Mabel has now gone platinum

If Oasis stay on the chart morning glory will pass 5 million next year and becky Hills get to know will go platinum this year.

16. Rumours Fleetwood Mac (15-16) 306,300 (T/S 4,541,200)
17. Folklore Taylor Swift (12-17) 288,800
18. Heavy Is The Head Stormzy (5-18) 287,300 (T/S 375,600)

20. Time Flies 1994-2009 Oasis (24-20) 272,400 (T/S 1,397,300)

Evergreen’s from Fleetwood Mac and Bob Marley continue to flourish in the current decade but Stormzy is the biggest faller from the top 10 of 2020.

Bob Marleys legend overall sales seems to change from different reports and there is always a fairly big sales difference.

11. 50 Years: Don't Stop Fleetwood Mac (10-11) 379,689 (T/S 703,200)
12. ÷ Ed Sheeran (13-12) 373,900 (T/S 3,823,400)
13. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Billie Eilish (4-13) 353,900 (T/S 723,500)
14. No 6 Collaborations Project Ed Sheeran (7-14) 317,500 (T/S 885,600)
15. Gold- Greatest Hits Abba (20-15) 315,700 (T/S 6,199,200)

Fleetwood Mac, Billie Eilish, and Ed Sheeran all lose their top 10 placements. Both Ed albums should get more platinum awards with one going 3 x and the other 13 x in 2022.

How did ‘AM’ by Arctic Monkeys sell so much last year is it just due to streaming a couple of the tracks?

Bob Marleys legend overall sales seems to change from different reports and there is always a fairly big sales difference.

The OCC sales pre 94 are always questionable and then of course it depends what they use for the 94-96 period which they flip around on themselves.

How did ‘AM’ by Arctic Monkeys sell so much last year is it just due to streaming a couple of the tracks?

AM spent 42 weeks in the Sales top 100 last year and reached a new peak of #26 there (since its inception in 2015), but yes it's mostly down to consistent streaming of the tracks.

AM got kinda lucky as a couple tracks of the album went viral on Tiktok, mostly Miley Cyrus's cover of Why You'd... but since her version is not available, people are buying/streaming the original

Edited by Bjork

'AM' has almost never left the top 100 since its release (it dropped out for a single week in December 2016 but has otherwise been continuously charting for over 8 years) so it had consistent sales/streams a long time before TikTok existed let alone them having any songs going viral there!

It's also one of the most consistent selling catalogue albums on vinyl for what it's worth (#17 on the EOY vinyl album chart for 2021).

AM has stayed in the top 100 for most of 2021 and a good bit of 2020 and is still on the chart and seems to be one those albums like Fleetwood mac, Elton john etc. that will stay on the charts for a long time from getting just a couple of tracks streamed rather than the actual album itself.
Im sure the recent viral Tiktok hits have helped the album remain in the charts and introduced Am to a whole new generation

6. Greatest Hits Queen (8-6) 423,000 (T/S 5,727,600)
7. Voyage ABBA (NEW) 400,400
8. Sour Olivia Rodrigo (NEW) 395,300
9. Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon Pop Smoke (6-9) 393,200
10. Diamonds Elton John (9-10) 386,800 (T/S 873,600)

New releases from Olivia Rodrigo and ABBA prove that demand for new albums is there but they still linger behind Queen’s Greatest Hits. Rap gets represented in the top 10 with Pop Smoke though whether he can maintain that top 10 position next year is in doubt.

1. Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent Lewis Capaldi (1-1) 623,300 (T/S 1,264,200)
2. 30 Adele (NEW) 600,000
3. Future Nostalgia Dua Lipa (3-3) 494,000
4. Fine Line Harry Styles (2-4) 471,900 (T/S 541,600)
5. = Ed Sheeran (NEW) 432,400

She almost caught him at the death but (to the end of 2021 at least) Lewis Capaldi remains the owner of the biggest selling album of the decade. No doubt that Adele is about to ease past him though leaving poor Dua stranded at No 3.

Like with Bob Marley i am confused with the sales of Queens Greatest Hits as it changes due to different releases etc, based on those sales Abba Gold has sold more and going by that is the biggest selling album of all time in the UK.
