The old MTV European Top 20 chart, which had been broadcast on MTV Europe for more than 20 years, ended in 2012. However, it looks like since January 4, 2014 some European "chart" has started being broadcast again on MTV Europe. The chart is broadcast on Fridays from 8:30 to 10:00 CET and on Saturdays from 9:15 to 10:45 CET.

At first the chart seemed to be a Top 40 but in later years MTV Europe sometimes showed positions between number 50 and number 41, indicating a Top 50. However, not all the positions were shown - some of them were skipped each week. It was also notable that the upper part of this chart was basically the same as the "Euro Top 20" chart that is broadcast on MTV Italy.

However, in February 2021 there was a change in the way the chart was being made. Soon after, MTV Europe started showing just a Top 20.

Now it re-enters at the top for a second week there 13 WEEKS LATER!

The song which "Love For Sale" replaces at number 1 - "Merry Christmas" by Ed Sheeran and Elton John - has actually left the chart altogether!...

long time no see. Perhaps you can clarify for me, what the difference is of the MTV Europe Chart you post here in this thread in contrast to the MTV Hits Europe posted in thread MTV Euro Top 20 2022 - MTV Hits Europe. MTV Italy has suspended to regularly show the latest MTV Europe Top 20, and it is often incomplete <_< The one you post here also behaves strange as often the number 1 leaves the chart in the successor week, which is not likely to happen.

AT THE MOMENT there doesn't seem to be a difference between the chart broadcast on MTV Europe and the chart broadcast on MTV Hits. However, until February 2021 the Top 20 of this chart was basically the same as the chart broadcast on MTV Italy... and then the way this chart is being made was changed (while the chart broadcast on MTV Italy doesn't seem to be regular anymore)…

So I'm just continuing to post the chart broadcast on MTV Europe - no matter what chart (if any) is being broadcast on other MTV channels - in order to keep the history of THIS chart.

It's true that the strangest thing about the "Euro Top Chart" broadcast currently on MTV Europe is that (since February 2021) there is a new number 1 almost every week... But recently there has been more stability at the top - and this is also the case in the latest edition of the chart, which I'll post next.

The last 5 places are unjustified, like the whole last week's chart - at least until No. 4.

 

From No. 13 to No. 4 it is the same as MTV Hits' chart from No. 16 to No. 7, so maybe No. 3 was We Don't Talk About Bruno, but Ed Sheeran's Shivers could not be No. 2, as it was No. 22, so it could have been Enemy, as Gayle's song was No. 24. With this logic Adele's Oh My God was probably the No. 1?!

Funny to see Lost Frequencies twice, at No. 21 and No. 3, but of course MTV Hungary only played the regular chart from No. 13, Ckay's Love Nwantiti but skipping My Universe by Coldplay and BTS (originally No. 17.)

 

Also interesting to see that after the chart there was a half an hour session called MTV Breakfast Club, where they played Shivers (like at place No. 18.), Sacrifice, Enemy and Abcdefu consecuently, like on the original and correct chart the songs from No. 6 to No. 2. They did not play neither the Encanto Cast's mega hit nor Charlie Puth's new track which were No. 3 and 1 on MTV Hits.
