February 2, 20223 yr Hard disagree Liam, sorry. She's a white person who painted her face black. It was drummed into us for years that that was simply not acceptable, no matter what the intent may have been, no matter whether it was intended to cause offense or to be racist or to even pay homage to a particular character, or something different. Even Estelle - who is a black woman already! - got heat for darkening her skintone in a music video a few years back. I love Jimbo, but the choice made me feel very uncomfortable because the context of doing that is well-known, and if she really wanted a dark face for the character she could have used a mask or facekini etc. for the same effect.

February 2, 20223 yr Author Blackface is, by definition, actively impersonating a black character as a non-white person, with the actual blackface makeup being used to accentuate a character. None of those things were done by Jimbo. It wasn't a skin tone, it was black make-up that was an artistic vision for what went with the look.

February 2, 20223 yr Lemon was easily the worst in the challenge, no energy at all and very predictable. Deserved to go home, as I also don't think she has much more to offer. Janey wasn't much better either, so deserving bottom two. Monique's runway was fantastic, but her behaviour was getting on my nerves. Shade is nice, bitchiness isn't. VERY glad to see Pangina winning though, she served and it definitely my favourite so far. Mel was brilliant as a judge as well, loved the Spice shade.
February 2, 20223 yr I'm sad with that outcome for Lemon. She was one of the queens I was most excited for from the line-up and I feel like everything she gave would normally be a very safe performance/runway. The US queens turning up with an air of superiority, throwing out the most mediocre performances and being rewarded with 'safe' is a p*ss take and their favouritism is going to get on my wick very, very soon. Juju gave the most basic entrance look, boring talent perfomance (which we saw in AS5? So why give only Lemon a 'we've seen it all before critique?!), and like 5th place pageant drag as her 'winner' runway. She didn't even give us funny confessionals which is what she's known for so why is she even there? At least Monique really served us an amazing runway. I'm rooting for Blu the most now! She's really grown since her season, has come into her own with her sense of humour and she just looks flawless every time on the runway. I've seen her twice live at gigs since her run on DRUK1 and she's so fun yet so polished. Anyone who has seen her Super Mario number will know how well her newfound sense of comedy translates. February 2, 20223 yr Jimbo's makeup in the challenge fit perfectly into the chess theme. Correct me if i'm wrong but black eye and lip makeup is nowhere near what you call blackf*ce usually. I found the message the strongest out of all and she's giving me winner vibes already. I love how she didn't do much to win the lip sync and it was a smart move. Just a quick reminder, can we leave it to BIPOC to decide what's actually racist and not speak on their behalf? Thanks.

February 2, 20223 yr Author Also I love love love Lemon to death, like out of international seasons she was one of the first I wanted on, but the fan reaction to her elimination is INSANE, Pangina has been getting hate and death threats she's said online, Lemon is not bothered at all but the fans (and Jan, she's being absolutely insufferable and totally tone deaf, shocker) are blowing it way out of proportion. I totally get disagreeing and being upset, but there's that and there's what Jan is doing :') On a different note, I think Drag Race talent shows have worn thin very quickly, you rarely see anything but lipsync numbers and the ones that aren't that usually end up flopping (Jimbo being a big exception)! And those are fine, but you lipsync your way through the competition anyway. Pangina did really well with hers because it introduced a bit of who she is and her story, plus Blu made hers have a different presentation and clearly thought about standing out. I think out of all the premiere formats, I likethe UK hometown runway thing the best. The old/Canada design ones I feel are really unfair off the bat, talent shows often end up meh, the S13 Rumix ones were good too!

Oh absolutely, I wouldn't put any blame on Lemon for the way (part of) the fanbase reacts, I am sure she is not liking this at all and has been very outspoken about it today. Jan on the other hand... She has to be the most delusional queen that has ever been on the show and has white privilige written all over her so I am sure she doesn't even want to understand anything about racism.
February 3, 20223 yr For me... Pre-lipsync, I'd go: Jimbo Pangina/Blu (better runway/better performance) Then the rest as a tussle for bottom two. :lol: Though I actually really enjoyed all! Monique had the worst 'act', but probably one of the best looks... Baga's was a decent act (I found it tacky, but entertaining), but the runway was easily the worst. I think I'd have placed Lemon and (maybe) Jujubee (as much as I love her) bottom...

February 3, 20223 yr Been away so only just watched it Gutted for Lemon - if ever there was an unfair first out, this is it…. Janey was the obvious weakest and should have gone. I would have put Jujubee in the bottom as well. Meh performance and meh runway Hopefully Lemon will get another shot at some point - either a return in this series or a Canada All Stars appearance On the other hand - I am so glad that Ru can see something in Jimbo. Awful lip sync though. I wouldn’t have put Pangina top two though. I thought her runway was actually quite weak in comparison.

February 3, 20223 yr I disagree that Janey is the weakest based on just one episode. She has so much to give and was at a disadvantage coming in so I'm glad she was given another chance. I'm sure she will start slaying very soon especially if it's a design challenge. Lemon will be fine. If anything this will give her more sympathy and likability points. Can't wait for the Monique drama. I can't see her coming out of that without a scratch, she already seems absolutely unbearable and I absolutely loved her before.
