Posted February 4, 20223 yr Hi all! This thread is the Micellaneous thread (for coverig the events we couldn't easily group into any other category) at the Winter Olympics this year. This includes the following: Biathlon, Curling, Ice Hockey. Feel free to discuss all the ins and outs of the disciplines, any predictions you may have, support for the competitors and other remarks you may have as we kick off today!
February 4, 20223 yr Author Curling Mixed Doubles got underway on Wednesday and Team GB have been doing quite well! Three wins out of four and they're currently second in the round robin. They're facing current leaders Italy tomorrow.
February 5, 20223 yr Author Team GB beat the Czech Republic in curling today but lost to Italy - they're currently in joint 3rd so the next few matches will be crucial.
February 6, 20223 yr So last of the round robin mixed doubles curling matches tonight and the semi-finals follow closely for the four lucky teams (including GBR!)
February 7, 20223 yr Author Sadly Team GB lost to Norway today - still a chance of a bronze though as they play Sweden tomorrow!
February 8, 20223 yr Author And sadly they lost to Sweden - it was quite a comprehensive win but to be so close to a medal must be pretty irritating!
February 8, 20223 yr Great Britain's wait for their first medal at the Beijing Winter Olympics goes on after curling mixed doubles pair Jen Dodds and Bruce Mouat lost their bronze-medal match 9-3 to Sweden. The Swedes surged into a 7-1 lead after just three ends and never let up.
February 10, 20223 yr Author We've gotten off to a decent start in the Curling for both the men and women! The men beat Italy, and whilst the women lost to Switzerland they beat defending champions Sweden.
February 11, 20223 yr When you only play for two and a half ends at most then you don't deserve to win. We're lucky to have finished as close to the US as we did. US won 9-7.

February 15, 20223 yr Sometimes the women curlers look unbeatable other times they could loose to anyone.
February 15, 20223 yr Author And as a result they've qualified for the semi-finals! You have to think that they're our best chance of getting a medal at these games now.
February 16, 20223 yr Now or never for a medal in regards to the curling, I think it was Albertville 1992 the last time GB failed to win a medal at a Winter Olympics.
February 16, 20223 yr Great Britain's women's bid to reach the semi-finals of the Winter Olympics curling is in danger after they slipped to a shock 8-4 loss to China. Eve Muirhead, Vicky Wright, Jen Dodds and Hailey Duff needed to beat the Chinese - and the Russian Olympic Committee in their final game - to be fairly sure of progressing. But the Chinese took three in the ninth end to ultimately clinch victory. Britain now need to beat ROC and rely on results elsewhere.
February 16, 20223 yr Author ^ A shame for the women, there's still a chance they could get in but with 5 teams vying for 2 spots it's looking unlikely. The men's ice hockey has suddenly got very interesting though - both the USA and Canada have been knocked out in the quarter-finals!
February 17, 20223 yr Great Britain's hopes of earning two curling medals are still alive as the women squeezed into the semi-finals after the men set up a last-four meeting with the United States. Eve Muirhead, Vicky Wright, Jen Dodds and Hailey Duff beat the Russian Olympic Committee to progress on the Draw Shot Challenge tie-breaker. Bruce Mouat's men's side defeated Canada to top the standings. Mouat, Grant Hardie, Bobby Lammie and Hammy McMillan face the USA at 12:05. A win for the Scottish quartet would guarantee at least a silver medal as Britain search for their first of the Olympics, and then Muirhead's side will get the chance to do the same on Friday at 12:05 when they meet Sweden
February 17, 20223 yr Canada just held on to win the women's hockey 3-2, not quite enough time for the US to make a comeback in the end.
