Obvs thrilled to see Dune get a Best Picture nom, and that's an impressively diverse Best Picture shortlist genre-wise (only seen that and Don't Look Up so far, also surprised to see that considering the critical reception!). Shame to see Denis Villeneuve not be up for Best Director as well though.

I didn't think it would be up for much, but I am sad to see The French Dispatch not get Cinematography or Production Design, it was easily one of the best looking movies I saw if not the best overall movie.

Most my faves were snubbed for performances idc much about so this was a messT (Gaga, Haim, Balfe, Negga, PASSING ANYWHERE ffs, literally all the actors I was rooting for to get the 5th spot in best actor) but I'm fine cos academy award nominee Kristen Stewart   I'm so so glad she still got in after the mess of the snubs she's had over the past month after being the frontrunner for so long.

And I do love that we got quite a few surprises and shocks, always makes things more fun! I was so tempted to predict Denis as a shock snub but I couldn't bring myself to ffs. Also the way I literally took Buckley out of my predictions at the last possible second (I felt McDormand would pull a Stanfield last year and Buckley was a bit too risky) and then she ended up being a shock nominee! (deserved just cos she should've swept everything for Wild Rose a couple years ago x)

Thrilled that Bella Swan is now an Oscar nominee, was worried that her momentum had completely vanished, particular after she didn't get a Bafta nom.

Always nice to see a career trajectory like Jessie Buckley, from "I'd Do Anything" to Oscar nominee (see also Cynthia Erivo who I first saw in the quickly cancelled X Factor musical).

Happy with the multiple noms for King Richard and Licorice Pizza, loved both of them. Should check a few more out as I've only seen those two, Belfast, West Side Story and Spencer from the main categories (always prefer going to the cinema for movies and I think there's quite a bit of Netflix/Amazon etc here)

glad Shadow of the Dog got so many, very subtle but nice film, Campion should easily get best director

but kinda think sadly Will Smith will beat Bennedict

most shocked at the main actress category, was 1000% sure expecting Gaga

glad Penelope and Kirsten got nominated, rooting for Pe!!

Would be fun if Penelope and Bardem both won? Has it happened before that husband and wife win? Think their chances are very slim though...

glad the Danish film got nominated, amazing little film
