Dua Lipa parted ways with her longtime management firm, Ben Mawson and Ed Millet’s TaP Management, a source close to the situation has confirmed to Variety. However, the source says that contrary to other reports, the singer is not currently taking meetings with other management companies, although presumably she will at some point in the future. The news was first reported late Thursday by Hits.

The timing of the move is curious as Lipa has just launched her “Future Nostalgia” arena tour after a nearly two-year delay due to the pandemic, although the source emphasized that the tour, which launched in Miami late last month and comes to the New York area next week, is running smoothly. The tour, which makes 28 stops across the U.S., including her first-ever headline show at Madison Square Garden and the Forum in Los Angeles, features support from Caroline Polachek and Lolo Zouaï, with Megan Thee Stallion joining on a handful of dates.

Nearly two years after the release of the Grammy-winning “Future Nostalgia,” Lipa appears to be fairly far along with the recording of her third studio album. Last fall she posted photos of herself in the studio (and was seen with producer Koz and songwriter Sarah Hudson); and in May, Warner U.K. label head Joe Kentish told Variety that she was “already thinking” about her third album and planning to pull off “something completely different and at scale.

“She was talking about album No.3 when we barely had No.2 done!,” he continued. “You’re half-expecting that she might want to take a break or go about things differently but she’s like ‘Right, what’s next?’ Her interests, her knowledge, her thirst to learn new things and to be in control of what she does just grows and grows. She’s taking time to fully realise the album conceptually, but her belief in herself and the belief that she can pull off something completely different and at scale has only grown.”

TaP, founded by Mawson and Millet in 2010, also handles such artists as Lana Del Rey, Ellie Goulding, Polachek, Noah Cyrus and many more others, as well as multiple producers and songwriters; it also has a digital marketing wing, a publishing company and a label. At the time of this article’s publication, Lipa’s photo was still on TaP’s website under its management clients.

Also confirmed by Billboard.

This is so sudden and she seemed so close with them :drama: They did such a great job with the Future Nostalgia era too. Makes me a bit worried how this will affect her playlisting and promo for the next album, but I trust Dua on this and there is obviously more going on behind the scenes that we don't know about

This all sounds very bizarre. Wasn’t she just thanking them last week after her brits win? Weird that it’s happened right at the start of her world tour also. I wonder what went down.
She wouldn't be where she is now without Ben & Ed, that's for sure.
This is a bizarre as it was mentioned before, even that her picture is still on TaP's website, so it's intriguing to know what happened behind the scenes.
i don’t think her management could have possibly done better for her tbh

THE FLYING LIPAS: There’s been considerable buzz in the biz over Dua Lipa’s recent exit from TaP Management. Warner’s pop phenom—who is currently on a sold-out arena tour (hitting Madison Square Garden on 3/1) and the cusp of superstardom—had inked a management and pub deal with TaP’s Ben Mawson, who retains her pub rights. Mawson, an erstwhile music attorney, was said to be lacking in bedside manner; some reports indicated the U.K.-bred siren was unhappy with her piece of the pie under her arrangement with TaP (which also represents Lana Del Rey). Dua is presently managed by her dad, musician-turned-entrepreneur Dukagin Lipa. Could she go the Taylor route and keep her management in house and en famille? Lipa pére is no novice and boasts a background in concert promotion. Word has it he’ll lead a meeting this week in NYC as part of his drive to assemble a team that could emerge as a bigtime power machine. Will any of the biz’s top management players get a meeting? As the old Albanian saying has it, Pesëmbëdhjetë për qind është një gjë, por mbajini duart larg të drejtave të këngës sime.

Dua has now unfollowed Ben on Instagram as well.

People are assuming Lana's recent post is being shady to Dua
