February 27, 20223 yr Oh wow didn’t realise they had another game coming up, any idea on release date?
February 27, 20223 yr We are so spoilt *.* I'd imagine it's a November release. This looks like a cross between Sword/Sheild (possible Italy or Spain vibes with this one) and Legends Arceus. HYPE
February 28, 20223 yr Judging by the in-game map in the trailer the region looks to be inspired by the Iberian peninsula (Spain and Portugal)?
February 28, 20223 yr Judging by the in-game map in the trailer the region looks to be inspired by the Iberian peninsula (Spain and Portugal)? That would make sense as the English names of the starter Pokémon sound very Spanish-esque!
February 28, 20223 yr The starters are really cute, best in ages. The game looks exciting but dear god I hope there will be a massive quality upgrade to the graphics before release (but not holding much hope seeing how they consistently manage to bring PS2 graphics to their games like they did in PLA and SWSH).
March 2, 20223 yr Scarlet is a cool title but Violet sounds a tad more "basic"... Maybe they just want to rhyme.
March 2, 20223 yr Scarlet is a cool title but Violet sounds a tad more "basic"... Maybe they just want to rhyme. Missed opportunity for them to go for Lavender instead. Or maybe it was intentional so the sequels can be called Scarlet Envy & Ultra Violet.
March 7, 20223 yr Or maybe it was intentional so the sequels can be called Scarlet Envy & Violet Chachki.fixed :P
June 1, 20223 yr I'm sorry but these graphics look horrendous. Looks like it belongs on a N64 rather than the switch based on the graphics. Not all that surprising given that the graphics were certainly made to take the backseat for both SwSh and Legends Arceus.
June 1, 20223 yr okay I’m more convinced to get the grass starter if only to have Talonflame on my team
June 1, 20223 yr Author There wasn’t much to see, but everything looked great in my mind. Excited! Pre-Orders are up today! Not them naming the pig Pokémon LECHONK I am obsessed already. Edited June 1, 20223 yr by Aaron.
June 1, 20223 yr Author I’ve also been doing a bit more play in Sword/Shield. Honestly SWSH was a big step up from Sun/Moon which I absolutely hated. Less hand holding. I think where SWSH lost me was the story was so boring, lots of key mashing to move things along. The biggest success for me was the Wild Area and Raids - however this took so much away from the main line game. I found myself just running around the wild areas doing raids and all in all that would usually take about 40 minutes which is enough for me in one sitting. With Pokémon Home and the ability to move Pokémon around, I don’t think Scarlet/Violet need a full wild area. Just beef up the game a bit more, make the story interesting and I think we will all be happy. Water starter for me, Fletchinder and LECHONK. My pre first gym team has already been set.
June 3, 20223 yr Sprigatito (grass starter) just looks unappealing, even after seeing it a few months ago... I'm also not surprised at Pawmi. It's not a new gen without a new Pikachu variant. Edited June 3, 20223 yr by All★bySmashMouth
June 3, 20223 yr SwSh's big problem is that they tried to make it story heavy but there really was no story. It wasn't hand-holdy necessarily, but they never seemed to let you get on with it, you had to mash buttons and sit through dialogue. Part of me just wants them to go "here's the gyms, do them" and let you do what you want within that. The big thing that seems to have been fairly over looked is Nintendo have confirmed this is properly open world which is pretty huge! It seems too good to be true but I'm thinking that means it will have more replay value and just overall be more fun to play a a whole, not just certain bits. With SwSh, I bought both and played Shield first, but then when I did Sword, it felt like a chore to play through it again, even when I tried it as a Nuzlocke to spice things up a bit more.
