Posted March 1, 20223 yr 27th February 2022 It's 3 weeks on top for LEON, who is getting chased now by The Weeknd's next single (if has any sense) Less Than Zero at 2, his 4th number 2, with 2 chart-toppers to date, with Tove Styrke's fab Show Me Love at 3. Great video, great twangy guitar. Shooting into the top 10 to give Ed Sheeran his first top 10 from the new album (and 4th top 20), is the lovely The Joker And The Queen, it's only his 3rd top 10 (yes you heard that right!) though Taylor Swift is now on 7. Neither of them has ever topped my charts. Meat Loaf finally gets a top 10 credit from his 1978 Bat Out Of Hell single, his 5th. Eels leap into the top 30 for a 25th year of consistent quirky quality, and highest new entry is Billy Fury's advert-promoted remix of his wondrous Wondrous Place, which first charted in re-recorded form in 1983 just before his sad early death from a heart problem. Billy had been my first-ever favourite pop star, him and Adam Faith, when I was pre-school and called him Billy Floory. new at 37. Tears For Fears go top 40 as they do a host of promo interviews across the USA, with heart-warming tales of mutual support following the death of Roland's wife, and a renewed reason to create a new album, out this week, with Break The Man being about Roland's late wife. I saw them on the last tour, not long after she had died, and they were still great. OneRepublic are back, 3 years on from the last chart entry, but West Coast at 47 gives 12 years of charting. AWOLNATION seem to be covering relevant political songs of over 30 years ago, the still-relevant Wind Of Change as a reminder of what was supposed to happen (I assume) and Beds Are Burning as a comment on what is actually happening (I assume). The Scorpions and Midnight Oil originals are great, these covers with guests are pretty good too. 4th and 5th charting tracks for them. Gary Brooker of Procol Harum died this week, sadly, so my three fave tracks of his enter, the classic (obv) and 2 lesser known mini-gems, Pandora's Box from 1975, and Conquistador, with full orchestra, from 1972, the year A Whiter Sahde Of Pale first made my charts 5-years late. I've had to expand my harts again to have room for Florence + The Machine's return after 2 years, 13 years into her career, Brian May back with another solo hit 48 years since 7 Seas Of Rhye banged into my number one spot for Queen, Johnny Marr's Night And Day, his 2nd of the last few months, Royksopp teaming up with Alison Goldfrapp, it's been 5 years since Goldfrapp last charted and 22 years since they debuted, Royksopp 6 years and 20 years for the same respective stats. Finally, John Williams is either the film composer (who first charted in 1978 with the Superman theme) or the guitarist (who first charted with The Deer Hunter theme in 1979) or someone else called John Williams. Not sure! I'd guess the classical guitarist. Petula Clark, though, had a number one in 2013, last charted with new material in 2016, and first charted (for me) in 1971 - but actually she would have charted and topped my charts with Downtown in 1964 - which did top my charts in '88 and '99 in remix form - so that's either 51 years of charting or 58 years of love, whichever is pretty amazing that Pet, who was making records as a child in the 40's, and films, can still chart aged 89. March 3, 20223 yr Hey John! Less than zero is indeed really good. I'm honestly shocked he's still releasing so much music but it is what it is. I'm quite enjoying Brave but I can't see it sticking around for too long! She needs a big WOW moment again like Ghost. That's what I want to see her releasing. Fingers crossed is honestly such a smashing song. I do hope that it can take off for you. Beg for you is decent but I am kinda annoyed that such an amazing song has been sampled. I feel so old saying that since it was released so long ago lol. King is a great return from Florence. It's how you do a comeback. Won't set the chart alight but it's what I wanna hear tbh. It's smashing. I really think you should give Tates new track another listen and see if you get on board. Maybe even watch the video because it's great.. Nice chart! ^_^

I'd not even noticed that September had been borrowed for quite a while on Beg For You :lol: Took a while to warm to it, maybe that was why subconsciously! Florence is always worth hearing, and I did give Tate another go at your suggestion. I like it still, but not enough to break into my overcrowded charts at the mo. I hope she goes top 20 and outdoes expectations, top 10 would be a stretch but it's been ages since Singerpurear had one so you never know it might catch a mood - I certainly got a bit OD'd on the sombre less-melodic alternative stuff and reacted more towards melody than even I usually do. Glad you like the Billy Fury track, my first pop star love was Billy as a toddler (and Adam Faith and Elvis and Cliff) :) I also peeved nobody appreciated the brilliance of Cut Copy Me, and Luminescent is also a grower, she's so amazing to be creative this far into a (let's all pause for breath) EIGHTY-YEAR career and almost 70 years since her first hit.
