I wonder how many tickets she’s sold to each signing… surely that might help her nab a Top 3 debut

Had never seen that before, but is there not a particular single? I wonder if they’ll switch that for a single on the following week.

They do “tracks from *insert album*” quite a lot. But it depends who the artist is. Usually reserved for major acts like Taylor, Billie, Sam Fender etc.. they’re all usually A-List though but I am SOOOOO pleased to see that Radio 1 continue to support her! I reckon they’ll just wait to see if one particular song starts doing better than the others before deciding what to playlist individually!

I’m surprised they didn’t do it for Ed tbh…

They do sometimes when they are big fans of the project as a whole or it's deemed a bigger release.

Great news shame it isn't A list but will definitely help get the album out there.

Amazon Signed CD has been fully restocked too :)

It seems like she shared a distorted snippet of Unconditional on Discord so it looks like it’s the next single…

Last physical album i bought was confetti before that was reputation, but im so close do i or dont i 😅 i just refuse to buy physicals since artists started releasing deluxe later ( i blame Rihanna GGGB for starting the trend 😅)

YES! One of the only UK artists that's giving us everything and genuinely cares about her craft and stans pop herself plus endless bops already!

Grab the signed CD from Amazon 😆

Now you will have a physical version of this album that can’t be changed or altered in any way so that if for whatever reason your streaming service provider fails and stops working… you can still listen to this album!!! 😃😃😃

Worth it for the signature alone at least you get a proper one not just an initial 😂

The shift from group to solo artistry has also redefined her sense of freedom — something that's on full display on her debut album, That's Showbiz Baby! (out this Friday, September 12).

"Full creative freedom is the main thing. Obviously, in a band, it's not just your choice. You have to compromise. You have to sometimes sacrifice your opinion for a majority vote. And I think, just because of where we came from and where we started, especially in the first half of our career, we were with a label that did call our shots a bit more," JADE reflects. "Being a solo artist, for me, means that it's all my decision, and I love that, but sometimes it's scary, because if it's a wrong decision, I haven't got other girls around me to say, 'Well, it wasn't just me.' You can't share that responsibility anymore. However, that is the biggest change, and I must be confident in my decisions and what I want to do creatively. And that's paying off. My bravery to choose songs that you wouldn't expect has really surprised people and given me more opportunities."

While JADE's artistry has always intersected with queer listeners, she's noticed a palpable evolution in her solo era. "Yeah, I've definitely noticed a shift," she says with a grin. "With Little Mix, I think there were certain queer fans, but now on my own, it's broadened. And maybe there are more fans of my age, too, that I would generally go out with on a night, which is slightly different. But I'm always conscious of towing the line of allyship and creating music for the gays in a way that feels inclusive and not opportunistic. I think you can easily sniff out when it's not authentic, especially the queer fan base. They know where it's at. They know who is genuinely a part of that. It's been amazing to see, though, to be honest. That fan base does guide me creatively, musically, whether that's in song choices or visuals. I'm very aware that I don't think I'd be as successful as I am were it not for my gay fan base. So I've got to listen to it honestly."

“Basically, you have to be really miserable if you want to write your best music,” she said, laughing off the industry trauma that heavily inspired “Angel,” which she wrote in a single sitting. The rest of the album, however, didn’t come so easily. “I told my partner, Jordan, it’s such a shame that we’re in a good place. Like, ‘Help, what do I write about?’”

Her song “Plastic Box” is about her current boyfriend, Jordan Stephens, a member of the rap duo Rizzle Kicks, and her initial “toxic energy” toward him: “When we first met, I was besotted, and I thought he wasn’t besotted with me, so I wanted to put him in a plastic box so I could be the only one he ever loved.” She’s since healed that jealousy, but insisted on putting the song on the album to showcase her “flaws.” And then there’s “Lip Service,” which is about oral sex. Originally, she also had a song about anal on the tracklist, but her executives told her it was “too much, too far.” “I played it in this quiet room for three men and they were like, ‘Mmm, might be a bit much for your fanbase,’” Jade said. “And I was like, Okay, I guess we’ll just settle for blow jobs instead.

How to Build a Pop Star

Three years after leaving Little Mix, Jade Thirlwall’s solo debut serves high glamour with a side of devastation.

Jade has been unraveling the threads of That’s Showbiz Baby! at her own pace, releasing six singles since July 2024. She calls the strategy “sexy edging,” noting that it’s her way of keeping both the longtime Little Mix fans and new listeners equally engaged. “For new fans, they need to hear more music before they invest in it, whereas the old fans will, arguably, be there the whole time, even if they do moan about the album taking so long,” she says, with a grin. She’s been slowly unlearning herself from the recurring pace to which she and her Little Mix bandmates were conditioned to make albums. “I’ve been on that hamster wheel for over a decade, so I’ve really struggled to understand that it doesn’t have to be like that. I do think, for my next record, I will just get it out.”

“In my head, I was like, ‘Okay, I’m going to quickly write a record. I’m going to put it out there. I have to stay relevant and jump on the hype of the band going on a hiatus.’ But thank God I didn’t, because I listened back to some of that music and was like, ‘Wow, that really was just another Little Mix record.’” And in an effort to avoid retreating into the “universal blanket” that covered the group’s music, Jade forced herself to rediscover the music she loved before The X-Factor. “Little Mix was all about girl power and sisterhood and ‘f*** boys.’ I was like, ‘Well, that’s kind of not my truth anymore,’” she admits. “What do I want to say? It was being in the industry, falling in love, battling my own inner demons.”

In their 10-year lifespan, the popularity of Little Mix didn’t translate so well in the United States, despite them moving 75 million units worldwide and out-selling every American girl group act in history not named the Supremes. “We never quite got over the last hurdle of breaking it. There were definitely times where we were so close but, I think for various reasons, it didn’t happen,” Jade reckons. “I don’t think it was our doing, I feel like we could have made it if we’d stayed [in America] and done more over there. I still see it now, on TikTok there’ll be a viral video of someone being like, ‘Oh, my God, you all failed Little Mix.’ And I agree.” But on her own, she won the Brit Award for Best Pop Act this year and is ascending into intercontinental relevance, and she’s being embraced by fans of her old group and Little Mix agnostics alike. “I love the idea that just my music alone is getting a reaction,” she gushes. “Every time I fly over [to the United States], I can sense it getting bigger and bigger. It’s a dream of mine to make it over there, because the Little Mix girls deserved it. I still want to do it for us.”
