Posted April 7, 20223 yr Not my sort of thing, but clearly big in the rock world! Legendary band Pink Floyd (well, some of them) have reunited for new single 'Hey Hey, Rise Up!', set to release tomorrow, in order to aid Ukrainian humanitarian relief. The track samples Ukrainian band BoomBox's lead singer Andriy Khlyvnyuk, who recently posted a viral video of him singing 1914 protest song 'Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow' in wartorn Kyiv. As their 2014 album 'The Endless River' was made up of older material, this will be their first proper new music since 1994's 'The Division Bell!' @1512088273157455873
April 8, 20223 yr saEpkcVi1d4 No actual vocals I can hear, but they were clearly wanting the spotlight to be the feature and the guitars are sounding solid as ever. I really like it, absolutely love seeing them commit to this, never thought it would happen! (shame that Roger Waters couldn't join though)
April 8, 20223 yr We just have to be grateful that Roger Waters didn't try and veto the use of the Pink Floyd name.
April 8, 20223 yr It's a powerful song and glad Pink Floyd added their brand to it. Plus amazing to have a single out from them in 2022! What next? Kate Bush to return? Re: Roger Waters. It's a tough one for me as although he was by far my favourite in terms of vision - I love "Animals" and "The Wall" especially which were mainly his work, like a lot of "The Final Cut" and even rate "Amused to Death" highly (first half great then becomes bloated) and agreed with a lot of his political stances including pro Palestine, it was shocking to see him give a "Both sides. Nato is the devil" type response to a 19 year old Ukrainian fan who had written to him for support as her country was invaded and friends/family in danger of death. Think zero chance of him ever coming back to Pink Floyd even temporarily like he did in 2005 at Live 8. Him and Gilmour's relationship is undoubtedly as bad as ever.
