Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson has criticised Girls Aloud for covering one of their songs without permission.

The singer was furious after learning that the girls had performed I Predict A Riot at their last tour, changing the lyric "borrow a pound for a condom" to "borrow a pound for a phone call".

"I don't give a s*** if they don't change the words. But they did change the words," Ricky told the Daily Star. "I'm gonna cover a Girls Aloud song and change all their words but make them really filthy. They said 'Borrow a pound for a phone call'. What? It's illegal, Girls Aloud. We're after you."

Ricky's bandmate Nick Hodgson has confirmed that the group gave their permission to Lily Allen to cover the track and were pleased with her version.

"Lily asked our permission for the song," Hodgson explained. "Girls Aloud didn't and then they changed the words. It's embarrassing because people think we have been asked and we haven't been."

bovvered. tour managers and the girls managers should know better than to let them cover a song without permission - it's not only the girls' fault.

hope they do cover a GA song, i'd be curious to see what a hash they made of that.

it's not as if they changed the lyrics that much!

I think the reason they are angry is because they coverd it without permision and changed some of it. I am sure you would be pretty annoyed if someone covered and changed one of your songs without your permission.

That was a the V festival! They had to sing that as they would have got bottled! They were terrible anyway. I don't understand why they changed the words. They should have sang this "We girls who run around with no clothes on, to borrow a pound for a condom" sounded like they were whores :D Cheryl should have sang "I smacked a minority lady, because she look at me like crazy"

This is what they sang:

"Watching us girls aloud get hairy

Its not very pretty I tell thee

Walking through town is quite scary

And not very sensible either

A lady in a toilet she got beaten

She looked the wrong way at a Tweedy

Would never have happened to Smeaton

And old Leodiensian

La-ah-ah, la la lalala la

Ah-ah-ah, la la lalala la

I predict a riot, I predict a riot

I predict a riot, I predict a riot"

Oh dear God, please do grow up Kaiser Chiefs, boo hoo they changed a few words, if they stopped trying to be impress people by acting like a "hardcore" rock act, then they may actually just be likeable, however I always have and always will detest them and their music. Arrogance personified.

I agree, I despise their first album. -_-

The whole reason is because they've been out of the limelight for about a year and so obviously need to make the news somehow - whether it's making music or not. -_-

Shame really cause I like 2 or 3 Kaiser Chiefs though, there only doing it to look 'heavy' as there not exactly rock are they?

I dont particularly like Kaiser Chiefs, but they're spot on, they actually wrote the song, which is a damn sight more than any of fukkin' Girls Aloud can actually manage to do, so they have every right in the world to decide who sings it and how, it's their artistic property at the end of the day, and they weren't actually objecting to Girls Aloud singing it as long as they treated it with respect, which i reckon is fair enough because they didn't.. What's the reason for the change anyway...? What, it's gonna spoil their image if they say the word 'condom' or summat????

The day Girls Aloud actually write a song and understand what it means to have actually created something of their own and they'll be inclined to protect it....

That's rubbish Josh, ANYONE would be peed off that their intellectual property was being fukked around with by a bunch of vapid, talentless slags....

I agree aswell - totally overrated bunch of musicians, and seem to believe their own hype. have a v low opinion of them.

They actually have written their own stuff...so your kind of eating your words there.

NEVER a truer word said on Buzzjack - as usual, spot on.

 That's kind of funny. Talk about santising.

I suppose I can see why the Kaiser Cheifs are annoyed (and I guess why the lyric was changed on the Girls Aloud version as they have a lot of young kids as fans- BUT then why bother covering the song in the first place?).

However- this article comes from Digital Spy and they apparently got it from The Daily Star... all I'm saying is it might not just be Girls Aloud who may have changed a few words from Kaiser Cheifs.

They actually have written their own stuff...so your kind of eating your words there.

Really...? No wonder it's so sh!t then...

If that's true, well, it just makes their actions even worse then, because they should know better than to screw around with another artist's songs....

I really hope the Kaisers respond with something totally off the wall....

If GA are so bothered about their young fans tell me why Sarah Harding's stripping off for some lingerie company.....? Doesn't square up dude....

Indeed, why bother doing it in the first place....

Oh look someone has a comeback album due out early 2007 :smoke:

Yeah, I'm sure they asked GA to make a c/unt of one of their songs just so they could get a bit of publicity...... <_<
