Gilks died in a London hospital on Monday due to internal injuries after the accident on Sunday. The Wonder Stuff hit the big time in the late 80s and early 90s, reaching number one with Vic Reeves in October 1991 with their cover of Tommy Roe's single 'Dizzy'. The band's other hits included 'The Size Of A Cow' before they split up in 1994. Gilks, 41, then went into management, and worked with the likes of Reef and A. Gilks was also a member of The Mighty Lemon Drops before he joined up with The Wonder Stuff. The Wonder Stuff enjoyed a brief renuion in 2000 for a number of gigs. Singer Miles Hunt reformed the band in 2004, but with a different line-up to the group's original members. A spokesperson for Gilks' company, Furtive, told the BBC: "He was greatly loved by many and will be sorely missed by all his family and friends." Gilks leaves a son and daughter.
