Right let's waste no time and get straight to the top 10 non-top 10 hits of 2000. Starting the few songs to become honourable top 10 hits from the year...

#10 – 36 – Basement Jaxx – Bingo Bango

{13}-30-44-64->4

Considered by me to be one of their best songs, however this couldn't quite reach the heights of their earlier releases 'Red Alert' and 'Rendez-Vu' which made the top 5.

#09 – 37 – Muse – Unintended

{20}-33-43-58->4

The first top 20 hit from Muse who'd go on to be one of the biggest bands of the 00s but this one didn't end up being one of their most remembered though despite that it does make this top 10.

#08 – 39 – Ol' Dirty bast*rd feat. Kelis – Got Your Money

{11}-22-27-31-36-47-63-75->8

The best-regarded rap song on this list here with a feature from Kelis fresh off her breakthrough hit - her hook particularly seems fairly well remembered.

#07 – 39 – Savage Garden – Crash And Burn

{14}-21-28-34-45-57->6

Savage Garden had a fair amount more hits than I recalled them having (as their streak ended long before I got into pop music) - I hadn't heard of this track but 6 of you had clearly including 2 +12s.

#06 – 42 – Black Box Recorder – The Facts Of Life

{20}-46-71->3

Quite a surprise that this has done so well given it seems to be one of the smallest top 20 hits of the year and from a band who never went top 40 since. Although I'd never heard this before having given a listen it is rather good. Helped very much by two +12s and a +10.

#05 – 46 – Green Day – Minority

{18}-31-49->3

This was a much smaller hit than it had the right to be really, seems to be one of the more remembered of their pre-American Idiot singles despite the poor chart run. Nice to see this top 5 here.

#04 – 52 – Moby – Natural Blues

{11}-17-23-33-48-71->6

Back when Moby was a big name but he couldn't quite make the top 10 with this - the (much better) follow up 'Porcelain' made it to #5.

#03 – 64 – Blink 182 – What's My Age Again?

{17}-31-42-52-59-75->6

Not a surprise this is this high up really, being one of the most well known pop-punk hits although it didn't have that great of a chart run. It definitely should have swapped chart runs with All The Small Things.

#02 – 71 – Mint Royale feat. Lauren Laverne – Don't Falter

{15}-25-37-57->4

Way back before Mint Royale got an unlikely #1 hit they had this great track which clearly seems to be fondly regarded on Buzzjack having also been a BJSC hit last year which may've helped it a little. A bit less remembered by the general public sadly but glad it's got good recognition here.

#01 – 79 – Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication

{16}-27-43-55-71->5

Not surprising in the slightest as this ended up being one of their best known songs. It's not my personal fave of theirs but still one of the better rock songs of the year. They seemed to be more of an album-selling band around this point and this came out ages after the album release which explains the poor chart run.

#37 – 04 – Placebo – Slave To The Wage

I didn't recall 'Crash and Burn' when I was younger but mum every now and again was playing their greatest hits in the car so that helped me a lot with discovering that and it's good slow effort from them imo.

'Don't Falter' & 'What's My Age Again' are fab too. I'm in the 'Minority' I guess when saying that's not one of their best for me, rather annoying song tbh. Not sure I even recall that Muse track and don't recall any of the others.

Oh I know Moby one kinda. It's alright I suppose. Prefer 'Porcelain' though.

Edit: 'Californication' winning a welcome result.
