February 11, 200718 yr I can't believe i'm actually saying this, but I really didn't like it. I found it boring, I felt it dragged on too long, Beyoncé played a really good part don't get me wrong, and the story was good, trying to expose the industry for what it is and all that, but I really just didn't like it. Definately left open for a sequel though. I didn't even think the music (aside from Listen) was very good either. However credit where it's due, Jennifer Hudson sang her heart out in what was an extremely powerful performance, reminded me a bit of Aretha Franklin. Oh thank God! I really thought I was the only one and I couldn't bring myself to drag the thread down. I saw it today and me and my friend walked out of the cinema before it finished. I couldn't connect with it - I found that I couldn't care less if a big bomb explosion killed off all the characters. None of them were particularly likeable. The singing drove me mad as well - at the beginning of the film I thought I'd buy the soundtrack, by the time Jennifer Hudson finished that song (which, as good as it sounded, must have lasted at least 10mins) I didn't want to hear another soul record ever again!! I'm spent. -_-

I know it was a form of musical, but there was far too much singing and not enough dialogue, which I think made it quite surreal, like when Eddie Murphy split up with one of the backing dancers, she actually sang to him that it was over, not very realistic. I know it's called DREAMgirls but I don't know I just couldn't get into it. -_-

It's like Phantom of the Opera, that bored me senseless too. They should leave musicals as musicals and not turn them into films. Everytime we got a new scene we got a new song and they all went on for too long.
February 11, 200718 yr Yep very true. Time seemed to fly so quickly, and yet time went by, no one looked any different.
February 11, 200718 yr I usually hate musicals, but I loved Chicago and obviously had to see this coz there was so much hype about it and Bey was in it too. I really liked it and the songs were amazing too, I loved them, when Eddie was singing 'Jimmy got soul' I was actually tempted to get up and dance lol, thank god I didn't I think people woulda thought I wasn't all there. Anywho the film is currently number 1 here.
February 12, 200718 yr I loved Chicago and Hair..no reason for not liking this one! :dancing: :dancing: :dancing: can't wait to see it!!!!!!!!!!!
February 15, 200718 yr Im so shocked how bad it has done in the UK box office. Its fell from number 1 to number 8 in its second week and lost 58% worth of business.
February 15, 200718 yr Really? Wow, well I guess the film may not be every1's cup of tea, but I'm glad it got to number 1 over here and done well in the US. I saw the film again today for the 3rd time, still lovin it :) How I love Jhudson's performance of 'And I'm telling you' Edited February 15, 200718 yr by AnastaciaInspirated
February 18, 200718 yr I saw it yesterday and I love it. I even  lol. Beyonce was ok in it. Nothing special. I dont undersdtand how Eddie Murphy has gotten a oscar nomination. He is good but not that good. But Jennifer Hudson is just amazing. Absolutly amazing

February 24, 200718 yr i loved chicago & moulin rouge I just don't like Moulin Rouge, it's kinda hard to get into and it just seems like everyone is screaming the whole way through. Nicole Kidman is one of my favourite actresses to so I wish I liked it more :( Chicago is  one of my favourite films tho.
March 6, 200718 yr Skinny Beyonce felt unsexy Tuesday, March 6 2007, 14:42 GMT DigitalSpy.com By Nick Levine, Entertainment Reporter Beyonce Knowles has complained that she felt unsexy when she lost weight for her Dreamgirls role. The 25-year-old dropped 20lbs for her role as Deena in the movie musical, but she insists that prefers her naturally voluptuous figure. She told the Daily Star: "I would look in the mirror and not feel like a woman. I didn't feel sexy. I'm a black woman and in our society hips and thighs are considered beautiful. I'd go to radio stations and guys were like, 'Where's Beyonce?'. "People in the fashion industry were like, 'Oh my god, you look beautiful'. But to me it's important to feel like me in my own skin and I didn't feel like myself when I was thinner. Plus, it's heaps more fun to be able to eat pizza again!" Do you prefer Beyonce skinny or with a more rounder figure?
March 6, 200718 yr I think Beyonce is a great role model for girls. She's universally adored for her music and figure, yet she is vuluptous and curvy - which goes against the current trend of size zero stick insects. Although to me she doesn't look much thinner in Dreamgirls?
March 6, 200718 yr THIS is the type of celebs that the magazines should be raving about because of their body's, this is who Fashion/Catwalks should be revolving around, people like Beyonce, Not sick, skinny, 12 year-old body-type size 0 models
March 6, 200718 yr Well said. But I think she didn't make that big of a sacrifice, like Jenny Hud did.
