Looking at the board this morning there is something about a guy called eros (well something like that) and shayne ward. i suppose there is a much chance for shayne, being from uk's x-factor, to mean nothing to anyone from italy, like that eros bloke as that eroc bloke is too me, even though both (probably) will be the biggest selling chart acts in their countries.

i was wondering what other massive chart acts from around the world that you know about that have racked up many number ones in other countries, get mobbed whenever they step outside but dont mean nothing (or very little) to people in the united kingdom (and ireland - seeing that most record companies are jointly for these territories)

The original was Johnny Hallyday in France ... Who? I hear you say. Since the 1960s he has been THE biggest and most well known singer in France yet virtually unknown outside of the Francophone World .... He has had hit after hit but never took the step to sing in English and try to make it elsewhere

A sort of Cliff Richard of La Belle France ....

That'll be Eros Ramazzotti - who has been huge in Italy for years. Tiziano Ferro is another one. Big in Italy, Spain and (I think) France and much of South America, but nothing ever released here, even when he did a duet with Jamelia.

i only know him from being the man on the train in that film from a few years back.

Xavier Naidoo in Germany a sort of Craig David

Juanes - comes from Columbia same as Shakira and featured on her single La Tortura.

He has broken massively in Europe and also big in the US.

His last single LA CAMISRA NEGRA spent 37 weeks on the European chart & also 13 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100.

A cross between Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin.

The guy on "La Tortura" was Alejandro Sanz, not Juanes ;)

el presidente in japan, there album went to no.1. there still reletively small here though. big in scotland though
Eros Ramazotti is massive in italy and also in other countries in europe except the uk

Sorry you are so right!

Although Alejandro Sanz from Madrid is big all Europe & South America

Cliff Richard is more well known here than anywhere else. I think he had a few hits in the US in the 70s and early 80s though.
