Posted December 18, 200618 yr Dave Clark Five legend dies Source: Music Week Denis Payton, a founding member of The Dave Clark Five, died yesterday (Sunday) in Bournemouth, aged 63. The British band recorded 23 albums and more than 30 worldwide singles, two dozen of which enjoyed US chart success. The Dave Clark Five were nominated for induction to The 2007 American Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame just a few weeks ago. The group's singer, Dave Clark, paid tribute to his fellow band member's talent and courage. "Denis was a very dear friend who I've known since we were teenagers," says Clark. "He had an amazing talent: he played sax, guitars, harmonica and sung backing vocals on all The DC5 records. "He was thrilled about our American Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame nomination. He said, 'I know I won't be around but it was an amazing part of my life that I am very proud of.' Denis was extremely brave and not afraid of death. He had an amazing philosophy on life and will be greatly missed by me and all who knew him." Payton is survived by his partner Lindsay, as well as two sons from his first marriage and two step-sons. ================================================ Another true legend

December 18, 200618 yr Dave Clark Five legend dies ========== Another true legend  i certainly wouldnt call him a legend. he was a bit part player in a 60's pop group, how many knew his name? or could recognise him?... everyone recognises ray davis, jimi hendrix, eric clapton etc ... they are legends. the dc5 had a few decent pop hits but were vastly inferior to the true 60's pioneers of music. people die, its a sad fact.
