November 6, 20222 yr Seem strange seeing Arsenal on top of the league, they seem to be on top form lately and with their win in the Europa league last week, seeing Newcastle in the top 5 of the league they seem to be having a good run, usually they are hanging around the bottom end of the league, that's a bit of a wild card. Than you got Chelsea, Spurs and Man Utd losing today. Arsenal first match after the WC is with West Ham, I think they could hold it when they return, with West Ham lingering at the bottom end of the table, as it stands its between Arsenal and Man City. Is it me or Man Utd have completely lost the plot this season. Edited November 6, 20222 yr by Mart!n
Utd, like a lot of teams struggle with the consistency at the moment. They'll point to injuries today.. story of Liverpool's season! Still think the glaring problem with Utd is Ronaldo. Ten Haag was rightly harsj on him a few weeks, but then makes him captain today? Very odd. I thought Arsenal would slip away, and I still do. They have no depth and it will cost them imo. Reminds me a little of Liverpool in 13-14 albeit without the chaos that team had
November 6, 20222 yr Last season was where Man Utd lost the plot, comparing this stage of the season to the same stage of last season and we're a lot better now. It was a bad result today but in general we have been improving lately and the new signings that have come into our team are making a positive difference, Dalot from our previous squad has really improved also. It's just a matter of time until Man City get top spot and pull away from the rest, Arsenal are fortunate that they haven't even played them yet otherwise they wouldn't be top today. Looking at the fixture list Arsenal's collapse will most likely happen from January onwards but they should surely get top 4 unless they have massive meltdown.
November 6, 20222 yr Author Looks like Southampton have recruited too many youngsters and not enough quality. They're really light up front. They're a strong candidate to go down
November 6, 20222 yr Author Thought Potter got his tactics wrong from beginning. Went way too offensive line up without defensive cover. Jorginho in a 2 man midfield against Arsenal with the way they play was suicide.
November 7, 20222 yr Author Southampton have sacked their manager Ralph Hasenhuttl in the wake of Sunday's 4-1 home defeat by Newcastle. Hasenhuttl, who was appointed in December 2018, departs with the club in the Premier League relegation zone with 12 points after 14 games.
November 7, 20222 yr One too many defeats for Ralph! They could go down now without him though I suspect or maybe they are like Burnley and ran out of luck!
November 7, 20222 yr Author Early market to be the next Southampton manager: Nathan Jones 1/3f Marcelo Gallardo 5/1 Kjetil Knutsen 12/1 Sean Dyche 14/1 Mauricio Pochettino 16/1 Paulo Fonseca 20/1 Vincent Kompany 20/1 Nuno Espirito Santo 25/1 Pedro Martins 25/1 Steven Gerrard 25/1
November 7, 20222 yr Nathan Jones an interesting one he didn’t do well at Stoke albeit they are a poison chalice currently. He does an sterling job at Luton though considering the wage bill, would actually like him to stay there to see how high they can go, people forget they were in the national league 8 years ago!
November 7, 20222 yr Author Southampton have been given permission to speak to Luton Town boss Nathan Jones about their managerial vacancy after sacking Ralph Hasenhuttl. Hasenhuttl left the club earlier on Monday in the wake of the Saints' 4-1 home defeat by Newcastle. Southampton have won just one of their past nine matches and are in the Premier League relegation zone. Luton will allow the club to speak to Jones after their Championship match at Stoke City on Tuesday.
November 11, 20222 yr Southampton have confirmed the appointment of Nathan Jones as their new manager. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63566631
November 12, 20222 yr Leeds seem to be enjoying results with 4-3 outcomes recently! A shame this one didn't go our way though.
November 12, 20222 yr Love their approach even under a new manager. Forget about defending just non stop attacks. More often then not it'll work!
November 13, 20222 yr Author Bielsa to Bournemouth? https://theathletic.com/3835908/2022/11/11/...andidate/?amp=1
November 13, 20222 yr Author I think that Everton squad is really poor. They're pretty much where I'd expect them to be in the table and will need more than a change of manager to become a top 10 side
November 13, 20222 yr The break could definitely work to the advantage of teams with only a few players going to the World Cup.
November 13, 20222 yr The break could definitely work to the advantage of teams with only a few players going to the World Cup. I think there are so many unknowns at this stage, but it's such an odd season that I could see Arsenal winning the league, West Ham gettign relegated and Newcastle finishing Top 4. Not too sure there will be that much impact for players who go out before the Quarter Finals - but for those players who get to the Semi Finals.. going to nbe hard to go back in to the regular season a week later after winning or losing. And we forget there's a round of international friendlies coming up for those platers who did not go to the World Cup
November 13, 20222 yr After the Xmas fixtures there’s fa cup 3rd round and then is there a break or is it just the usual weekend off in January?
November 13, 20222 yr After the Xmas fixtures there’s fa cup 3rd round and then is there a break or is it just the usual weekend off in January? No winter break this year - straight back to it. And that's without trying to sneak in an extra round of fixtures for all teams and then a secondary one for most of the teams still in Europe! It's a mad season, probably feels like high 80s will win the league this year. Will be interesting to see how teams react post World Cup, there's bound to be mental and physical fatigue. I know the injuries part have been lumbered at Arsenal all season, but they might just get lucky? They've certainly had the luck so far whereas Liverpool and Chelsea haven't for example.
November 13, 20222 yr Peoples opinions on arsenals chances starting to move a bit, would be quite nice to see a different team on top. They are playing some lovely stuff although I’m not a fan of Arteta just annoys me!
