April 8, 20232 yr Author Apparently both De Zerbi and Stellini got sent off for failing to control their staff instead of anything they would've said or done themselves. So I guess the potential sanctions will go towards the individuals concerned rather than the managers
April 9, 20232 yr Author Jesse Marsch is in advanced talks with Leicester City for becoming their new head coach.
April 9, 20232 yr Never ever a sensible idea to go for a relegation rivals' unwanted coach, there's a very obvious reason why they were binned off in the first place!
April 9, 20232 yr Author The PGMOL has admitted a mistake was made by the match officials and VAR when not awarding a penalty to Brighton in Saturday's Premier League game against Tottenham.
April 9, 20232 yr The PGMOL has admitted a mistake was made by the match officials and VAR when not awarding a penalty to Brighton in Saturday's Premier League game against Tottenham. A string of apologies from PGMOL won't help Brighton if they miss out on a European place by a point or two. What is the point of VAR if they keep getting it wrong?
April 10, 20232 yr Author Dean Smith is in talks with Leicester about taking over as manager until the end of the season. Smith, 52, left Norwich earlier this season after previous spells at Aston Villa and Brentford. It is understood talks are centred around trying to keep the Foxes in the Premier League rather than looking longer term.

That would be a bonkers appointment if it went ahead.
April 16, 20232 yr Feels harsh on Arsenal that they can draw away at Anfield and in a local Derby and feel the title slip away. Probably going to end up with their record Premier League points tally and come away with second. Can't be throwing away two goal leads in a title race though. They're going to have to go to the Etihad an win, which is going to take some doing.
April 16, 20232 yr It's a huge bottle job. Not so much the results themselves but the fact they threw away 2 goal leads in both. But taking a step back they've still massively overachieved if they do finish second but they might not be in this position again for a long time. Edited April 16, 20232 yr by Dobbo.
April 17, 20232 yr Author Winner takes it all then with the game at the Etihad between Man City and Arsenal?

But taking a step back they've still massively overachieved if they do finish second but they might not be in this position again for a long time. I don’t think you can call it a bottlejob, Arsenal are going to likely end up on 90 points. The bar is set so high with City, there’s barely any room for error. I’d say in their last two games they were poor results, but not a bottle job. Going up against Pep’s Man City is one the hardest things to do in sport. Liverpool were called bottlers in 18/19 for losing one game! That’s just mad. Arsenal’s problem will be how they take defeat if they lose the title, I suspect with a young team they’ll be able to “go again” like Liverpool did.
April 17, 20232 yr The order of fixtures may play a part too. Since City won't play in the league this weekend & Arsenal have on paper the easiest game of the season they can pull 7 points clear. So if they could at least draw at the Etihad the gap will be very big however City will have those 2 games in hand. Then any time Arsenal play before City in the following gameweeks they will be able to stretch it to a 10 point lead but having played 3 more games. It could very much be another 13/14 situation where City always had games in hand on Liverpool and duly won them all to overtake right at the death.

I don't think they will go again, this season is their big chance. They remind me a bit of Leicester in the 2015/16 season by playing out of their skin and overachieving. They will have to deal with Champions League football which is bound to take it's toil on them physically and mentally and they won't be able to reach the same level of consistency as this season. I'm calling it now that they will finish outside the top 4 next season!

I do think that is some wishful thinking though :P They are a very good team, they will strengthen in the summer, but so will everyone else. It should be Top 5 for the Champions League - I think the only guarantee is Man City. Trent looks absolutely unbelieveable in this inverted midfield role - cheers Pep!
April 18, 20232 yr Author Manchester City submit a planning application for the increased capacity of the Etihad Stadium.
April 18, 20232 yr Author Phil Foden has returned to training as Manchester City head into their final eight Premier League games four points behind leaders Arsenal. The midfielder, 22, has been sidelined since having his appendix removed last month while on England duty. Foden has scored 13 goals in 36 appearances for City this season.
April 18, 20232 yr He's had a pretty terrible season by his standards all things considered, probably not getting back in the team now either with Grealish in red hot form.
