It's far better than his last album cover at least...

(wouldn't be hard for the album to be better musically as well, all it needs is at least 5 songs worth listening to)

Looks like it will be Drake vs Foals in the albums chart. I think Foals will get #1 on sales and Drake will get #1 officially
CLB got way too much flack. I still rank Girls Want Girls among his best recentish (let's say 2015 onwards) work. It was the The Scary Hours 2 EP that I didn't really like.

I found Certified Lover Boy so bad that I’m not even going to check this one out. I can’t find anything remotely redeemable about CLB and it’s completely ruined any excitement I’ll ever have a Drake project again.

Scary Hours 2 was better for me. At least it had 1 song I thought was decent (Lemon Pepper Freestyle).

The consensus on this one I’m seeing currently seems to be that it’s a weaker version of More Life.

'Massive' feels like a G-A-Y Late moment... a bit like Chris Brown's 'Turn Up The Music'. I love it.

But yeah 'Liability' is my fave here, maybe my fave Drake song in years

Well this is certainly better than Certified Lover Boy (in that this is at least listenable x). There are some big moments on it but also some horrid moments like the production on Currents :')

My main gripe is that it seems like he has nothing to say throughout the album? Half of the songs have a refrain or a set of lyrics repeated over and over again and then long moments of instrumentals too. It just seems a bit pointless, idk.

I'm long "over" him as an artist tbh. He hasn't excited me for YEARS which is a shame because at his musical peak he was incredible - the Take Care album remains one of my favourite albums ever. Listening to it now and it's such a brilliant experience from start to end.

There are some songs on here I'll be returning to and they do pop off but as a whole album it's another pass for me unfortunately.

i'd say he dipped after 'nothing was the same' and it's an ironic album title...

i think Drake's biggest problem was... noone really took him that seriously as a rapper / artist so that's kinda all he rapped about and his ex lovers... but then... he got notoriety and ran out of exes to rap about... so like HausEatsGrandma says... he kinda doens't really write about anything.

...well unfortunately this didn't even come close to that now I've heard it :kink:

'Jimmy Cooks' is easily the best song on this album (and even then 21 Savage is much more enjoyable than Drake on it lol) so I think he'd best just stick to hip-hop. 'A Keeper' is, appropriately, the only other real keeper on the album for me and that's entirely due to the instrumental - it's reminding me of a song I really liked which I think was in BJSC but annoyingly can't put my finger on it, fairly sure it was an instrumental which doesn't help! 'Sticky' was decent too and might be a grower, possibly 'Massive' too although I found that sadly underwhelming as I had heard a short clip of it and it sounded good from that but the full song didn't really keep my attention (it's way, way too long for one thing). Beyond that there's almost nothing else that's memorable at all and what little is memorable is in a bad way oops (i.e. 'Calling My Name') ~ It's all just monotonous wallpaper. Some of the production is fairly nice but Drake just cannot do anything interesting with it.

yeah for a so called dance album its for the most part rather lacklustre and Drake just sounds bored.

Massive and Jimmy Cooks are the standouts so no wonder they’re the only two to have any staying power in the chart.

it is highly amusing that the 'dance' album (i say dance as only about 5 songs dip into that territory really)'s biggest hit is the hip hop collab tailed on the end of the album - says something about his fans really.
