Just heard this on the soundtrack of the new Elvis movie, it's really good. Basically a Cold Heart style reworking of Elvis' Suspicious Minds. Feels like PNAU have struck gold again here, but not sure if it will take off, it doesn't seem to have had a concentrated push like a lot of the other songs on the soundtrack have.

Been a surprisingly long time since Elvis has had a UK hit...

The beginning sounded like it didn't really blend too well but as it goes on its gets more interesting and I really liked the second half. The 'Don't Fly Away, Beautiful Bird' and the verse coming after that were all fab. Agreed on the strings too. Lovely addition which saves it from being a complete copycat.

Yeah I had been wondering when PNAU might be asked to work their magic on another legend's old song. Seemed we didn't have to wait too long.

I suspect the producers of the film/soundtrack literally just gave them the brief: 'remake Cold Heart for Elvis'. So it's a little transparent but, nevertheless, there is something quite special and lovely about their production style.

This has got me thinking about just how long it has been since Elvis' last hit. His vocals were used on a Susan Boyle's 'O Come, All Ye Faithful' which reached #48 in 2013, there was a Spankox remix of 'Baby Let's Play House' in 2008 that reached #84, a selection of re-releases in 2007 that reached Top 20, then the 2005 re-releases that all reached the Top 5, three of which made #1. The last time Elvis had a successful hit with something 'new' was 2003 with the Paul Oakenfold remix of 'Rubberneckin'' and 2002 with the megasmash JXL remix of 'A Little Less Conversation'. For someone considered such a legend, it is surprising how, in recent times, he has escaped being sampled or the Kygo-style remakes. Perhaps we can expect them from now on if this biopic has opened up his catalogue to a new generation.

I'm excited to see what they do for the Madonna biopic in that case!

Okay this is sounding even better on second listen. 'Cold Heart' took a couple of listens tbh and this has done pretty much the same. I'm unsure if this will even do anything but I would welcome it if it did. The strings really are fab and quite emotional sounding to me.

Edited by Roba.

come on this is too similar to Cold Heart, I kinda expected Dua to start singing every 10 seconds :D
