‘Deep Cuts’ is the best thing I’ve heard from them in a decade!

You Me At Six return with their 8th album, Truth Decay - a proud homage to the band's peers and influences on 27th January 2023.

Recorded in Santorini and continuing You Me At Six's now long term creative partnership with producer Dan Austin (Biffy Clyro, Massive Attack, Pixies), Truth Decay sees the band return to their roots, and cement themselves as masters of their genre.

Track Listing:

1 DEEP CUTS

2 Mixed Emotions (I Didn't Know How to Tell You What I Was Going Through)

3 God Bless The 90s Kids

4 After Love In The After Hours

5 No Future? Yeah Right feat. Rou Reynolds

6 heartLESS

7 Who Needs Revenge When I've Got Ellen Rae

8 Breakdown

9 Traumatic Iconic

10 :mydopamine:

11 A Smile To Make You Weak(er) At The Knees

12 Ultraviolence

13 A Love Letter to Those Who Feel Lost feat. Cody Frost

Maybe for the best that they don't become the first act to have two albums with 1-x chart runs tbh :kink:

Really liking both 'DEEP CUTS' and 'No Future? Yeah Right', cool to see them with a bit of a heavier sound this era.

I forgot to post this, but 'heartLESS' came out a few weeks back. It's alright, but something sounds really off with the mix? It just sounds really tinny.

'Mixed Emotions' is by far my favourite of their recent releases.

Gave this a listen last night and it's a solid album from them, a couple of songs that were really giving me some nostalgic 00s pop punk vibes (Fall Out Boy et al.), particularly 'Who Needs Revenge When I've Got Ellen Rae' and 'After Love In The After Hours'. 'Ultraviolence' was also a standout - the rap-ish verse was an interesting choice but I think it came over better than it could have.

I didn't hear 'heartLESS' until now but I think that's melodically actually my favourite of the singles - although I do agree the mixing sounds a little off (I could swear it actually sounded better on YouTube than on Spotify although that might just be because I heard it there before re-reading Whoddy's post here ) I liked ':mydopamine:' too but 'God Bless The 90s Kids' is one of the worst songs on the album for me along with 'Breakdown', bordering on a little cringe oop but thankfully the rest of the album was at least decent.

This only did 7.4k first week in the end so was never going to be in contention for #1 regardless of which week it came out, I wonder why they've dropped so much from the last era? Shame to see.

I think it’s mainly because they gave the last album a much bigger push in the release week because it was in contention for the #1, I noticed that there wasn’t nearly as much of that this time.
