I was never able to get my head around the release of this/these album/s probably due to the UK chart rules and such but I’ve thrown it all together for this thread. I never owned this so if there are discrepancies with track listing and such just bear with me.

Lady Gaga burst on to the UK music scene at the beginning of 2009 and I think it’s fair to say it’s hard to think of anyone whose debut era was this successful. With her extravagant fashion and music to match, she was EVERYWHERE. This album spawned 4 no.1 singles in Just Dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance and Telephone. Paparazzi and Alejandro also became massive top 10 hits and this album finished top 3 in both 2009 and 2010 with only Susan Boyle stopping her from having the biggest album of 2009.

The Fame hit the top 5 in January 2009 and following Poker Face ascending to the top spot later that Spring, the album also made it to the summit. In November that year she repackaged the album with a new disc, The Fame Monster, which proved as popular if not more with lead single Bad Romance.

Upon listening today, I much prefer the Fame Monster section-so many good songs! My fave Bad Romance plus Speechless and Dance In The Dark and many more. The Fame stands as a solid pop effort though I don’t think much stands above the singles in that section though I’d forgotten just how good Just Dance is for sure.

This was my first delving into a Gaga album and I feel like I could explore some more.

This album was a big deal to me! I actually didn't care too much for 'Just Dance' but watching the 'Poker Face' video on TV changed everything. 11-year-old me was totally in awe of her and instantly rushed out to buy 'The Fame' album. I'd say that it's very of its time, so hasn't aged the best out of her records, but I do still love listening to the likes of: 'Poker Face', 'Paparazzi', the title track and 'Starstruck'. On the other hand, I do think the 'Monster' songs have held up very well - 'Teeth' is the only one I don't care for. 'Bad Romance' is my favourite of hers overall

In terms of follow-ups: 'Born This Way' is my #1 album of hers, it was released at exactly the right time for me and still an epic listen.

I'm finally seeing her live for the first time on Friday! *.*
