It's a first week on top for Bananarama in over 31 years, since Long Train Running did the trick in 1991, their second number one being album track Velvet Lies, a much stronger choice than current single at 43, as is Running With The Night at 9, their 4th top 10 of the year. Sarah and Keren's best-charting year for me since...ever! Empress Of has taken 7 weeks but is now at 2, with Alex Chistensen at 3, and Reverend & The Makers get a lush 3rd top 5 track 17 years after the 2nd. Highest climber is a whopping 86 places for Rose Gray's delightful Cupid at 8.

 

Mark Owen also has a whopping climb for a 2nd top 20 of 2022, Magic! Elton & Britney rise rapidly into the top 40, not the first time Tiny Dancer has been there, but incredibly the track was unknown until the 90's in the UK. Highest new entry at 60 is the 44-year-old Lotta Love, as Nicolette Larson returns to my charts with her lovely version of the Neil Young 1978 song. Agnes keeps her run of entries alive with her 7th, Love And Appreciation extending her run to 13 years since Release Me topped my chart.

 

At 72, the UK"s current chart-topper finally enters for Eliza Rose & Interplanetary Criminal on the lowkey dance B.O.T.A., and Yonaka belatedly enter as well as Seize The Power, which was featured at the end of Marvel's She-Hulk episode last week, gets a boost for a 3rd chart entry at 87, Yonaka peaking at 7 in 2021 with Call Me A Saint. 80's hitmaker Howard Jones hasn't troubled my chart since 2016, but Celebrate It Together extends his run to 39 years since New Song went top 10.

 

Tame Impala help Gorillaz to a 17th year of songs charting, this time New Gold at 95. Betty Boo gets a 2nd of 2022, bringing back Chuck D for assistance for some late 80's nostalgia, and Lightning Seeds chart a 3rd track, Emily Smiles not unlike a mid-60's Beatles tune in style, and Tom Jones, Legend, grabs the latest Longest-Run award as his new Blues-ish sparse ballad sneaks in 54 years since Help Yourself started the ball rolling for 10-year-old John, Tom not missing a decade in between either for 7th consecutive decade, and outdoing Ronald Isley who held the record for 3 weeks. Suzi Quatro meanwhile decides to cover 1969 top 10 Creedence Clearwater Revival classic, Bad Moon Rising, and extends her run to 49 years since Can The Can, glamtastic and the new runner-up of longest run with new material for a solo female, 8 of her many entries coming in the 21st century. Diana Ross has 52 years, though.

Hold me closer with that massive jump into the top 40 :o I'm glad to see you're a fan. It's not quite as good as Cold Heart I don't think but there's not much in it plus this one has Britney. How can you actually compete with that.

In also hyped to see Boy Climb. That one should actually enter my chart in a couple of weeks.

A big yay for B.O.T.A. finally showing up to the party. Late lol. It's fabulous.

Hypnotised is top 20 this week :D For a track that didnt chart it did pretty well in the Buzzjack chart, maybe if Id been a bit earlier it might have gone top 5 in the BJ chart :o

 

It's good to see britney back isn't it, I hope she stays well and things dont bring her down . Boy is still a slow burner for me, but Killers records sometimes take a while. Yes BOTA showing up very late, that under-stated hook took a while to sink in but it's a bit more-ish like finishing off a Chocolate Orange once you've opened it up :lol:

 

Shame Words missed the top 40, a few of the tracks above it have def outstayed their welcome and could have made room for it :o

Thanks for the picks, and growers in buzzjack is always a problem for me. Immediate tracks always have the advantage, the slow-burners lose out unless you have the time to play them several times over a couple of weeks, which is not always easy. That's why Eliza got no points from me, it was out-shone by more in-ya-face tracks but it's more of a long-haul track I think, one with staying power

Hi AH! :) Sadly not off to Spain after all, postponed due to circumstances but I'll be in the canaries anyway in a month and will try and grab another before Xmas :) I can go clubbing in London on Saturday afternoons now, one for the older folk who want to be in bed by 10 :lol:

Ooh great taste with Armed & Extremely Dangerous as a number one. Given an excuse (advert/movie) I would certainly rechart it and maybe give it that top spot it just missed out on :) Wow! You didnt know Lotta Love till a few weeks ago? How did you find it, it's not what I'd call a radio regular (very sadly!)? Great choice and fab to see it do well!

 

I agree about Eliza being an unusual and welcome number one, I doubt even Kath expected that level of success :o I havent seen the TV Tom Jones spot, I just saw it was doing well on itunes and played it. Quite a showstopper for The Voice.
