That could be OK for me though we’re already over 4 hours.

Or could have say 3 tracks this week and more in the coming weeks - a gradual tribute could also be effective.

but is he worth such tribute, I don't particularly rate any of his songs

if someone like Madonna dies, what you gonna do? a whole day tribute? ;)

Why don’t we limit it to five tracks for an RIP Hall of Famer haha

So if someone like Madonna or Paul McCartney dies, we know we’ve got to choose five tracks to play.

That doesn’t sound too excessive?

I think Burt Bacharach definitely fits into that category as a “RIP hall of famer” but let’s limit it to five tracks?

Covering 46 albums this week bringing us to July 2006. That may be an alarming date but don't worry, we're not finishing on that album. That'll be the penultimate one. (I wouldn't have played a second song from it next week anyway). I'll be playing an instrumental version of the song from it and maybe a bonus track from the version of the band without its singer. x

This week's #2 albums:

2005

Pushing the Senses - Feeder

Mezmerize - System of a Down

In Your Honour - Foo Fighters

Supernature - Goldfrapp

Late Registration - Kanye West

A Bigger Bang - The Rolling Stones

Have a Nice Day - Bon Jovi

Never Forget: The Ultimate Collection - Take That

Keep On - Will Young

2006

Employment - Kaiser Chiefs

The Back Room - Editors

Keys to the World - Richard Ashcroft

Inside In, Inside Out - The Kooks

I'm still unsure what to do with the suggestion of playing multiple songs for Burt Bacharach. I know he was a legendary songwriter but I can't say I really love many of the songs people have mentioned from him :kink: I think my favourite from the list Ed posted would be 'Twenty Four Hours From Tulsa'.

(I am going to start at the normal time btw)

Kaiser Chiefs - I Predict A Riot

Editors - Lights [non-single, also happy with Munich]

The Kooks - She Moves In Her Own Way

There was a compilation programme of Burt Bacharach songs on BBC Four on Friday, so maybe an extended tribute here feels a bit excessive after that. I don't think Trains And Boats And Planes which is credited to Burt himself was one of them though.

Kooks - Naive

Editors - Munich

Richard Ashcroft - Paint the night with colour

Edited by Bjork

Kaiser Chiefs - Every Day I Love You Lees And Less (also happy with IPAR)

Kooks - She Moves In Her Own Way

Foo Fighters - Best Of You

Will Young - Who Am I

I’d suggest just limiting the Burt tribute to three songs then with I say a little prayer, walk on by and twenty four hours from tulsa as those seem to be the most popular of what hasn’t already been a number one. any more than that seems a bit excessive.

I’d second I predict a riot and she moves in her own way too

Editors - Munich

Will Young - Who Am I

Goldfrapp - Number One / Ride a White Horse

Kanye - Touch the Sky

Ooh this week for bonuses is wonderful *.* gonna have to be awkward and go over three

Foo Fighters - Best of You

Goldfrapp - Ooh La La or Ride a White Horse

Kaiser Chiefs - I Predict a Riot

Editors - Munich

Kooks - Naive or She Moves In Her Own Way

As for Burt, he was a bit before my time so I don't have any big favorites, I would advocate for Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head, Close to You, I Say a Little Prayer and Walk on By.

Kaiser Chiefs - I Predict A Riot

The Kooks - Naïve

Will Young - Who Am I

Maybe 3-5 Burt songs - 'I Say A Little Prayer', 'Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head' and 'Trains And Boats And Planes' are my personal favourites

This is the first week I have no suggestions for the number 2s. I don't know any of them.

I think two should be the maximum for any RIP but don't mind if we go over that.

^agree I'd say even 2 is too much

but yes don't bother me either, I'm never there for the extra songs

although I take the playlist and listen during the week,

I have to admit in my opinion the extra songs was better in the past, now it's a bit too much sometimes and it's a chore to listen to

I think keep it to two songs in tribute too tbh. Someone can always do another full session in tribute separately if they wish.

Will be late to the session today unfortunately but will have a look over bonuses.

Editors- Munich

Kanye- Diamonds From Sierra Leone

Kaiser Chiefs- I Predict A Riot

Kooks- She Moves In Her Own Way

Goldfrapp- Ride A White Horse or Ooh La La

Richard Ashcroft- Break The Night With Colour

Feeder- Feeling A Moment

Oop that’s quite a lot, must be a strong selection of #2s lol.

Those Bacharach songs are all good choices.

Editors - Munich

Goldfrapp - Number One

I mean they are called 'bonus songs' for a reason, don't feel obligated to listen to them x

(Apart from Jamelia slots. Those are mandatory listens).

FWIW, I agree with Dan’s suggestion for Burt tributes. 3 is good and those he mentioned are all solid
