I only really know Pulp's big hits / songs that were already played so no input from me here but RIP.

(Also oop I need to get another tracklist up again, let me try and remember to do that later today!)

Jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter died on Thursday. He was a member of Weather Report which would point towards a Suedeonian BJSC entry Birdland. He also played on Don Henley's The End Of the Innocence.

Oh I saw that name but did not know he was a member of Weather Report. I loved 'Birdland' so definitely up for playing that.

838 R.E.M. - Accelerate // R.E.M. - Supernatural Superserious

* yes this canonically counts as a separate #1, it charted separately and alongside the original at the time for some reason

Other songs played:

The Chemical Brothers - Saturate (opening song, second song from We Are The Night)

Interpol - The Heinrich Maneuver (from #2 album Our Love To Admire)

Derek & The Dominos - Layla (from #2 album Complete Clapton (by Eric Clapton))

Britney Spears - Break The Ice (from #2 album Blackout)

Goldfrapp - A&E (from #2 album Seventh Tree)

OneRepublic - Stop And Stare (from #2 album Dreaming Out Loud)

Muse - Knights Of Cydonia (Live) (from #2 album HAARP)

Panic! At The Disco - Nine In The Afternoon (from #2 album Pretty. Odd.)

and a few Jamelia slots of jokes that landed or didn't to various degrees including the Sesame Street 'one of these things' song that clearly inspired 'The Pretender', me being utterly hilarious playing a video entitled 'What Is Interpol?' and Dot playing some unfunny cringy rap from an award ceremony or something idk I left before it started

+ Dandy also queued the Basement Jaxx remix of Adele's 'Hometown Glory' and then dipped before it played

Back to the full 3 hours this week and 43 albums covered bringing us up to October 2009 (although with a few more bonus songs peppered throughout as there were actually 3 different albums in this time period that re-charted at #1 in separate chart runs to their original runs - brownie points if anyone can recall all 3 without looking it up). And dusting off a klaxon for the return of an artist we've had plenty of times before but not for a while...

This week's #2 albums:

2008

Third - Portishead

In Silico - Pendulum

All Hope Is Gone - Slipknot

Glasvegas - Glasvegas

Year of the Gentleman - Neyo

Let It Go - Will Young

Off with Their Heads - Kaiser Chiefs

A Hundred Million Suns - Snow Patrol

Decade in the Sun: Best of the Stereophonics - Stereophonics

Safe Trip Home - Dido

Chinese Democracy - Guns N Roses

2009

I Am Sasha Fierce - Beyonce

Tonight - Franz Ferdinand

The Annie Lennox Collection - Annie Lennox

Kingdom of Rust - Doves

Sounds of the Universe - Depeche Mode

Music for the People - The Enemy

Escala - Escala

Love & War - Daniel Merriweather

La Roux - La Roux

Catch 22 - Tinchy Stryder

One Love - David Guetta

Kings & Queens - Jamie T

I Am Chipmunk - Chipmunk

I will nominate the title track from Doves' album as I feel like it's important we play something from them given the album missed out on #1 by 4 sales. (Also a great song that I want to hear again anyway)

Also nominating Jamie T - Sticks 'N' Stones, my first ever personal chart #1!

And let's go Pendulum - Propane Nightmares too to fill out a rare trio of self nominations x

La Roux - In for the Kill (if not, Bulletproof)

Dido - The day before the day, aka, saddest song ever about her father dying and not saying goodbye :/

Snow Patrol - The planets bend between us

that said, not 100% sure I can make it, we are going to see this Icelandic singer Asgeir live, and no clue when it starts...

Sticks and Stones - Jamie T without a doubt!

Geraldine - Glasvegas

Halo - Beyonce

Portishead - The Rip

Portishead - Machine Gun

Doves - Jetstream (Sasha Remix)

La Roux - Tigerlilly

Annie Lennox - Little Bird (if not already played)

Not sure how much of it I can make today - will definitely need to drop off around 7 so won’t nominate bonuses :)

That doesn't stop Bjork nominating bonuses every week :kink:

Yay that all 3 of my nominations have been at least seconded so hopefully that's enough for them to all be played anyway x

(Also @Bjork both of those La Roux songs were top 2 hits!)

+ Dandy also queued the Basement Jaxx remix of Adele's 'Hometown Glory' and then dipped before it played

Oh haha! :kink:
