January 31, 20232 yr Author New track is fab! It sounds like a grower and not too far off the sound of Billions. The bagpipes are a moment (as expected) First Apple Music's playlist, now Caroline's tracklist. My fave PinkPantheress can't catch a break this week :(
January 31, 20232 yr I really love the new one! It’s nice and mellow but still has an interesting production and I love the final section. It’s probably the one that’s clicked the most with me so instantly
February 15, 20232 yr To think we got this and Kelela in the same week? Whew. Her world-building is so rich in detail — the way she's created an album with this much sonic variety and yet it all sounds essential and perfectly placed. It's warm and dense... but also airy and effortless. It's probably the first album that has really nailed the early noughties references in a way that sounds true to them but also as something new and interesting. It's all just incredibly difficult to do and get right. I really do think it is going to be one of those classic pop albums we're lucky to get annually.
February 15, 20232 yr crazy good review in Pitchfork (8.7) https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/caroli...-turn-into-you/
February 17, 20232 yr This album is so good, possibly better than Pang imo  Blood and Butter has massively grown on me since first impressions, Fly To Me is gorgeous and Dido/Caroline's voices work so well together. I think my favourite of the new tracks is I Believe, and knowing it's dedicated to SOPHIE makes it even more special
February 17, 20232 yr This has a 94 on Metacritic which is the same score ROSALÍA got to finish with the highest rated album of last year! Very excited to check this out, 'Blood And Butter' is fab as well so 5 for 5 on the singles.
February 17, 20232 yr I got into Welcome to my Island with the Charli remix and this past week the original has really clicked. I hadn't heard any of the singles prior bar WTMI so i listened. NGL I wasn't too keen. It was a good album, but nothing amazing. My standouts are Welcome to my Island, Sunset and Blood and Butter. those will be the ones i'm taking forward to listen to and the rest of the album is take-it-or-leave-it imo
February 18, 20232 yr Author Carolegend with the highest critic score of the year so far *.* Currently 90 on AOTY
February 20, 20232 yr I got into Welcome to my Island with the Charli remix and this past week the original has really clicked. I hadn't heard any of the singles prior bar WTMI so i listened. NGL I wasn't too keen. It was a good album, but nothing amazing. My standouts are Welcome to my Island, Sunset and Blood and Butter. those will be the ones i'm taking forward to listen to and the rest of the album is take-it-or-leave-it imo Bunny is a Rider is class as well!
February 21, 20232 yr I’d never noticed this before but it’s very Imogen Heap in places. So much so I’d actually believe anyone who said it was her
February 22, 20232 yr Listened to this lastnyt and it’s a decent album, ‘Welcome To My Island’ has now fully grown on me to be her 2nd best song following ‘Bunny Is A Rider’!
February 25, 20232 yr Listened to this today (a rare moment of me remembering to listen to an album x) and the reviews are deserved, I'd be surprised if I hear a better album this year. I already knew and really liked the singles, but I wasn't expecting 60s psychedelia, breakbeat, children's choirs, and a collaboration with Grimes and Dido, and she somehow pulls it all off. There are very few misses here (I Believe isn't quite as strong, but it's not bad at all and obviously a lovely sentiment) and the slower moments are brilliantly haunting. Crude Drawing of an Angel, Hopedrunk Everlasting and Butterfly Net are stunning, the latter could've come straight out of the summer of love!
March 4, 20232 yr Author This album is INCREDIBLE end of. 'Crude Drawing Of An Angel' and 'Butterfly Net' are both 10s. Stunning and enchanting  There's a melody in 'Butterfly Net' that's sounding extremely familiar. I can't quite put my finger on what song it is?
March 6, 20232 yr Listened to this today (a rare moment of me remembering to listen to an album x) and the reviews are deserved, I'd be surprised if I hear a better album this year. Crude Drawing of an Angel, Hopedrunk Everlasting and Butterfly Net are stunning, the latter could've come straight out of the summer of love! I totally hear that. The organ is really reminding me of something like 'Whiter Shade Of Pale' It feels wild that I wasn't feeling this era until the apt 'Welcome To My Island' came along as my irresistible initiation. The project is all falling into place for me now - how did I not immediately stan 'Billions', I've had such a moment with that after listening to it alongside the stunning video.
March 9, 20232 yr There's a melody in 'Butterfly Net' that's sounding extremely familiar. I can't quite put my finger on what song it is? This may be way off but today I can hear 'Ordinary World' by Duran Duran in places during the verses  ~~~ This is definitely my AOTY so far, therefore I approve of the critical hivemind again after MOTOMAMI was my nailed on favourite of last year. Re-reading through this thread - I belatedly agree that the second verse of 'Billions' is everything, with her lower register and the vocal dives *.*
April 5, 20232 yr Author Amazing performance of Welcome to My Island + new video for Smoke released on Instagram yesterday  YcAlqdRZTeM View this post on Instagram
