A hat-trick from spinner Karthik Meiyappan was not enough for the United Arab Emirates as they were beaten by Sri Lanka at the Men's T20 World Cup.

Meiyappan removed Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Charith Asalanka and Dasun Shanaka to help restrict Sri Lanka to 152-8.

But the UAE were skittled for 73 to slip to a 79-run defeat that sees them all-but eliminated.

Sri Lanka now need a big win against the Netherlands in their final game to qualify for the next stage.

The Netherlands edged closer to a place in the Super 12s at the Men's T20 World Cup after a nervy five-wicket victory over Namibia.

Bas de Leede hit an unbeaten 30 from 30 balls to help the Netherlands over the line for their second win of the tournament with three balls to spare.

Jan Frylinck had earlier top-scored with 48 as Namibia limped to 121-6.

Group B are all 1-1 heading into the last games tomorrow. That means the two winners of Scotland v Zimbabwe and Ireland v West Indies will go through to the next stage.

Hoping Ireland and Scotland progress from Group B.

With the UAE the on,y team that can’t progress from Group A we are set up for some good matches today. If Netherlands neat Sri Lanka they take top spot and if Sri Lanka win then they’ll be hoping Namibia lose. As a Sri Lanka and Namibia win will most likely see Namibia get top spot in Group A.

Great to see Ireland going through today with a win against West Indies.

Also through to the last 12 are Sri Lanka, Netherlands and Zimbabwe.

Namibia were close to qualifying yesterday but messed up their run chase. I think David Wiese should have batted higher up the order than number 7 as he's the only member of their team who plays in the top level T20 tournaments.

Fantastic to Ireland get through, shame about Scotland though.

Also weather is looking putting bleak today, games may get called off.

Yes, the rain is ruining it. It's far too early in the Australian season. I suppose they wanted to keep the Big Bash in its normal summer slot but a T20 World Cup should be more important.
Yep time ing seems a bit off. I guess they also didn’t want it clashing with the FIFA World Cup in later November.

Pakistan boosted their slim hopes of progressing in the Men's T20 World Cup with a brilliantly frenetic win against South Africa at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Pakistan launched a recovery from 48-4 to post 185-9 and then took regular wickets to deny South Africa in a chase shortened by rain to win by 33 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.

Pakistan reached the Men's T20 World Cup final after a thunderous seven-wicket win over New Zealand in Sydney.

Chasing 153 to win, Pakistan openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan hit half-centuries in an opening stand of 105 to tee up a stunning victory.

Shan Masood hit the winning runs with five balls to spare to send the Pakistan fans wild at an electric SCG.

Daryl Mitchell had earlier hit an unbeaten half-century as New Zealand recovered from 49-3 to post 152-4.

Pakistan will now play England or India - who meet on Thursday - in Sunday's final in Melbourne.

England have injury concerns over Dawid Malan and Mark Wood for Thursday's T20 World Cup semi-final against India in Adelaide.

Batter Malan remains unlikely to play because of a groin injury, while fast bowler Wood has taken a limited part in training after reporting general body stiffness.

A Sri Lankan cricketer accused of raping a woman while in Australia for the T20 World Cup choked her so forcefully she was left "fearing for her life", court documents allege.

Danushka Gunathilaka, 31, who was charged with four counts of rape on Sunday, is also accused of taking off a condom during sex with the woman.

The batter denied any violence or lack of consent in an interview with police.

He was refused bail on Monday after police argued he is a flight risk.

Brilliant performance from England, sets up a big final in Melbourne on Sunday.

Hopefully the weather doesn’t interfere with the match.

I know the answer is because of time zones around the world, but if they’re that concerned about the weather ruining the game in Melbourne start it earlier, say 10am local time. It’s currently almost 9am and it’s blue sky’s and sunshine here.
