Wow the hook on 'Gimme' does not sound good at all...

(I don't mind the verses, Koffee's part is actually pretty good, but the whole song is kind of ruined by that obnoxious excuse for a chorus)

I like it but can’t see myself playing it much outside the album. Also don’t think it’s the next official single as Sam was seen recording a video before Christmas and there has been no mention of a video for Gimme.

It has a video already!

Brutal review from The Guardian: so-called experimentation only offers more anodyne anguish

https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/jan/...mi-fourth-album

But when that artist is Sam Smith – who has said just that about their fourth album, Gloria, bolstered by a press release talking up the album’s “edgy, experimental” nature – it’s worth remembering that we’ve been here before. Smith couched Gloria’s predecessor in similar terms: their third album Love Goes was supposedly “experimental”, and “allowed me to be whoever I wanted to be in the studio that day” etc. As it turned out, it was about as experimental as a packet of digestive biscuits, unless said experiment involved amping up the singer’s trademark romantic misery even further than before. The sense that Smith might not be the best judge of their own work, at least when it comes to its ability to spring surprises, thus took shape.

I got his last album and liked it but not connecting with anything from this era so far so unlikely to buy this.

Who We Love with Ed Sheeran is the dullest thing I’ve ever heard which means it’ll be a massive hit.
I’m really enjoying this. It’s not the most cohesive and think the track list could be in a better order. Lose You is the easy standout so would like that to be a single next, but INHTMF is fairly good too so understand why they went with that.

I've seen posts saying they should've plucked some tracks of 'Love Goes' and this album and build a much stronger album overall:

Love, Gloria

1. Diamonds

2. Love Me More

3. How Do You Sleep?

4. Lose You

5. Dancing With a Stranger (with Normani)

6. I'm Not Here to Make Friends (feat. Calvin Harris & Jessie Reyez)

7. Another One

8. Dance ('Til You Love Someone Else)

9. To Die For

10. Gimme (feat. Koffee & Jessie Reyez)

Bonus Tracks if you really have to for the Deluxe or something

11. I'm Ready (with Demi Lovato)

12. Unholy (with Kim Petras)

13. My Oasis (with Burna Boy)

Yeah, that would have been good. Both albums are a bit hodgepodge but all of those tracks are the standouts between the two.

Why would they mix the last 2 albums? that makes no sense

Gimme on the album and the anchoring smash Unholy as a bonus???

Girl, the two albums by themselves make no sense.

I can't stand Unholy

Both their HMV signings for today were cancelled due to travel (I think) but I don't know if they will be re-arranged.
I don't know how it works but as a duet I thought Spotify would have listed the collab on both Sam and Ed's pages as RR? All the streams they are missing out on from Ed's fanbase... Unless it doesn't count because it's not a single.

Edited by Megan_

It's not been given a separate single release so no it won't appear on Ed's page.

(Also yes if this alleged 'stronger album' is cut down to 10 tracks and 'Gimme' still makes the cut somehow I dread to imagine what the songs you cut sound like :kink:)
